I always felt the handle was awkward as efff, especially if your hands are greasy from handling beef/pork or wet. Saying that, the blade is thinner than the Victorinox

globals have softer steel and a thicker grind than the other more traditional japanese knives around that price point that result, resulting in worse cutting performance and edge retention

I have been using my roommate’s global 8 inch g-series chefs knife for six months and want to purchase my first nice knife. I like the size of the global, so am thinking 210.

I know from my personal experience in owning them. Throughout my time I eventually settled on using cruder, more toothy edges that also went dull rather quickly which I found unsatisfying so eventually I sold the knife.

They're overpriced for the steel and forge quality, but they have a unique handle that apparently suits many people well.

The Global G-2 is a phenomenal kitchen knife that redefines what a chef’s knife can be. Its greatest strengths are its incredible light weight, agility, and its screaming sharp factory edge.

I've used Global knives for over 15 years and I've never had a problem with the handle. It's a very balanced knife, nice weight and retains its edge.

A few of their knives are -- within their limits --great performers, though. I have especially the G2 and GS5 in mind.

Global has been falling behind IMO. Several years ago, it would be a top pick for entry-level knife but over these past several years, many worthy contenders have appeared, so Globals are no longer the good value they once were

Any particular reason why it has to be a Global? There are a lot of better knives for that price in my opinion.

I have a set of globals and do not experience any hand fatigue like others they're made with high quality steel and are overall really nice knives!

iv'e also thinned my g-2, I don't use it nowadays but it's waiting for guests in my kitchen.

The G2 has a slender handle with little clearance. It will be uncomfortable for someone with big hands/fingers

the Global will hold an edge longer but both can be brought to about the same sharpness

if it's going to soak in the bottom of a sink, get the Global. If you're going to use a honing steel rod, get the Global.

I bought the Globals 20 years ago and have only just this year started upgrading.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I didn't like the handle, balance, or the sharp edge on the grip that eats into your pointer finger.

I have a Global G-2 that I use as my daily driver and love it, it feels great in the hand and looks good on the shelf.

i tried global knives and i couldnt get over how tiny and uncomfortable the handle felt in my hand

I rely on my Global chef knife, because it's my wife's favorite knife.

Reddit▲ recommend

so many people in this thread talking about the Global being slippery which just doesn't make a lot of sense to me

I like both for the most part with a slight preference for mine.

You can do a lot better than the Global G2 and Wusthof Icon for the price, much, much better.

I have had mine for years and use this to keep it razor sharp. It is much lighter than the shun and I like that.
