I think this should probably be the last knife that any beginner acquires. In my opinion, the cost for this knife is way too high for beginner use.

You really can’t go wrong with a Wusthof. I use mine daily and while someone might have a cheaper option, if he will use it heavily I would invest in the higher quality steel.

I am a fan of a full bolster normally. Have a fair collection of Whustofs now

Bought an 8 inch wusthof classic about 3 years ago. Best $99 I ever spent. What a difference, an amazing kitchen tool.

I do love the balance and grip on the Wusthof Classic chef's knife, I prefer it to the Henckels, but the blade on the Wusthof does feel a bit more flimsy. There was quite a bit of give when I used the knife to crush garlic

I spent 500 bucks on my set 22 years ago and then it turns out I only need 3 of them. Cannot get them sharp.

Got this knife and it’s superb and I sharpen it with a steel

is considered by many to be the gold standard. I have had mine for 22 years -- also purchased when I was 20.

a nightmare if you ever need customer service. It's the WORST! Their "lifetime" warranty is a joke!

I love Wusthof Knives - high performance and have used them for decades

I dropped mine on my kitchen floor—> fell straight down on tip and the blade broke completely off!

Since I bought my Fujitora (210mm) my 8” Wusthof Classic is rarely (never) used except when I take on a task that borders on knife abuse. The upgrade in performance is huge, the lesser price a bonus.

And it’s just a preference for the thicker spined and more curved blade that makes me prefer the the chef’s knife.

I just bought a Wusthof classic line 8 inch chef's (pretty sure same as here in terms of line and steel, but I'd have to check) for about 150 new from wedding present money for my wife and myself.

For me the balance of the Wusthof is perfect. It just feels like an extension of my hand, the weight of it is just perfect.

I have a Wusthof classic 8 inch chef knife and that’s the only high quality thing I own

I've been using the Wusthof Classic 8 inch chef's knife for years and it's still my go-to knife for most tasks. The balance, sharpness, and durability are unbeatable in my opinion.

my first ever really nice knife was a Wusthof classic 8 inch chef I found at a goodwill for under $5 a few years back. It set me on my entire knife/kitchen/scratch cooking journey.

I use my 8-inch Wusthof Classic Chef knife (with a Western handle), as it is thicker, made with a softer steel, has more steel behind the edge, is easy to sharpen if damaged

Wusthof classic 8 inch chef knife. You can't really go wrong. When you hold it, the weight just feels right and it holds a decent edge and won't break the bank buying it.
