Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BKSY

Based on 32 comments across 2 communities
TL;DR
Owners overwhelmingly love the Cuisinart Custom 14 for its powerful motor, dead-simple two-button operation, and the kind of durability that sees it passed down across generations. Many call it the best food processor they've used outside a pro kitchen, far better than blender attachments. The main gripes are its bulky footprint, weaker results on very small batches since a blade redesign, and occasional lid-clip or blade-mount wear.

91% of 32 verified owners recommend the Cuisinart Custom 14 DFP-14BKSY.

One of the clips holding the lid on my Cuisinart custom 14 broke within 5 years of very light use. I still use it, I just have to push on the lid to keep it on, but I can't recommend the model.

it now has a larger gap at the very bottom, so some things do not get incorporated as well as they used to. It also does not perform well with small batches of things for this reason.

No other food processor (aside from a commercial model like a Robot Coupe) is remotely as good. This is the one model Cuisinart makes that is definitely still BIFL. Get the 14 cup model even if you don't think you need that size. The 11 cup model has a different lid latch design that isn't as sturdy. I accidentally dropped our demo model like 5 feet onto c

My 14 cup model is dreadful at shredding cheese. The blade spins so fast that the cheese gets smeared if cheddar or softer and the blade mount gets damaged with harder cheeses.

It is immediately obvious that the Cuisinart is better in (almost) every respect. The Vitamix certainly works fine enough, but it is so clear to me that the Cuisinart is truly a top-level purpose-built machine and that the Vitamix attachment is a clever design but nowhere near as strong a performer.

The Cuisinart Custom 14 is like half the price and does all the same shit with the same precision. Don't get me wrong, I'm a breville fanboi, but the Cuisinart is the 'budget baller' food processor IMO.

my mom has a Cuisinart Custom 14, which is a very well-regarded processor in the US that goes for around $200 or so. She can knead a loaf of brioche in there, but it can't really handle two loaves at once.

the Cuisinart Custom 14 is $175 and the best food processor I’ve ever used outside of a pro kitchen.

It’s a much better food processor than the Vitamix base + Food Processor. Here’s a side by side demo someone else posted. The food processor is much quieter, and speeds up/slows down much more quickly. It does actual pulses, and there’s a wider variety of blades you can get for it.

One of the virtues of the Cuisinart Custom 14 is that the blade is quite close to the bottom of the bowl. I've used mine with great satisfaction to make a one-egg batch of mayo. I've never said to myself "Gosh, I wish I had a smaller food processor."

I got some veggie-loving friends (no known disabilities) a Cuisinart Custom 14 food processor and it has obliterated so much of their prep time. They used to spend four hours on a Sunday prepping veggies for the whole week, and now it's done in about 45 minutes. Her particular model is pricey at $250, but it blends, minces, dices, and slices with even result

The cuisinart custom 14 is like $50 more than the vitamix attachment but it does a much better job. Also you are really not saving much space; the vitamix attachment is HUGE.

The one food processor I'm using right now is the Cuisinart Custom 14.. I definitely use if for chopping vegetables, kneading dough, and even nut butters.. The best food processor indeed!!::))

It performs well, providing uniform results and is relatively easy to clean, though it is a bit bulky. Overall, it’s durable and highly effective for cooking in bulk.

I have had one for a couple of years now, and it has been bulletproof. The only downside is if you are limited in space, it is a bit bulky as it holds 14 cups.

Cuisinart Food Processor which is an absolute beast, but for some damn reason they don't make a dicing kit to go with their best selling, most powerful model.

I've been using the Cuisinart Custom 14-Cup food processor for a while. I chose it for its durability and powerful 720-watt motor. It easily handles tasks like kneading dough, chopping hard veggies, and making nut butter.

my grandmother had one of the previous versions of a Custom 14 and it lasted decades and has been passed on to another family member.

No, it does not wear it down and it does it pretty quickly and effortlessly. The manual advises using the steel blade for small amount of dough (under 3 cups of flour) and the dough blade (it's made of a tough plastic) for bigger amounts of dough.

I think [this one](https://www.cuisinart.com/custom-14-cup-food-processor/DFP-14BCNY.html?gQT=1) (or something very similar to it) has lasted me over a decade. It's dead simple, just two buttons (spin and pulse), and a powerful motor. No "programs" or anything.
