December Dripper

Based on 36 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners who stick with the December Dripper love how the adjustable flow makes one brewer handle everything from a single cup to a liter, and many say it has outright replaced their Kalita Wave. But it carries a real learning curve, and a meaningful group wrestles with leaking gaskets, clogging, and slow drawdown that leave some to abandon it on the shelf. Whether it earns its spot largely depends on how much you enjoy tinkering to dial it in.

I use the December dripper for this occasionally, it's a bit leaky and is dripping super slowly but good enough so I don't have to buy a yet another gadget.

I got a December Dripper that I nearly never brew with. It's just a less-useful, more complicated, Clever that's hard to handle while in use. Add in that I have to buy either grocer flat-bottom or Wave filters, it's just more work to make shine than it's worth.

I have a December Dripper which is like a metal Kalita Wave but with adjustable flow rate.

The December Dripper acts much like the Kalita Wave 185. Tbh I never really got into playing with the number of holes to open when pouring. I've always kept them all opened. I had some good results closing them all during bloom though. I so wish the thing had a handle though the silicon glove doesnr work the best.

For high altitude coffee, I can get insane floral notes in the December dripper.

It’s completely solved the frustration I used to have with the Stagg X and December Dripper. The flow rate quickens significantly.

I'm trying their \*April brewer recipes on my December Dripper Bottomless, and while I've yet to completely dial in, I can happily use 27-28 clicks and get decent drawdown times.

In the December Dripper I have been able to successfully brew batch sizes ranging from 10g on up to 60g of coffee; that is to say, a single ~150ml cup on up to ~1000ml to share.

I got a December Dripper about a year ago and I have very mixed feelings. grinding on an EK or a Breville Smart Grinder I usually experience a very slow drip rate, even with the valve fully open (4’12” compared to 3’40” on a kalita or 3’00” on a 2 cup v60). It also had a lot of issues when I first got it with leaking out the side, especially when it was full

I'm still waiting on the gasket fix for my 2nd December Dripper. 1st one had the leaking problem and I tried the "hammer fix". It still leaked. They sent a new one. On the 1st try, it worked fine. On the 2nd? Coffee everywhere.

my hands down go to is the Kalita Wave 185 or the December Dripper (Korean Kalita variation with adjustable drip settings).

I can treat it like how I use my December Dripper. I close it off at the bloom. Then, open it and pulse pour normally. Shutting off the drips at the bloom makes it more efficient; I can use less water to wet all the grinds.

I don't regret the purchase but i don't use it that much: mountain dripper, december dripper, cezve

I also have a December dripper that replaced my V60, but I simply haven't bought the right sized filters and I'm spoiled to how easy it is to use my Clever.

I'm a regular December Dripper user. It's a really nice method to mess around with coarser grinds. It takes some practice though: my first few attempts at getting a well extracted cup with coarser grinds -- even with adjusting the settings -- was leading to some pretty weak cups. Still, when you get it right, the December Dripper can create some really uniq

the best cup I made of their East Timor coffee (a very different coffee, but still super light with low solubility) was one where I ground pretty fine and used the December Dripper (a flat-bottom dripper where you can close the bottom opening kind of like the Hario Switch)

I use the December Dripper wide open, and if you look at that design, you will notice it too suffers from the filter sitting directly on the holes.

Looks like this might be another December Dripper for me. Where I use it for a few weeks then it's a setpiece lol.

it leaks a little bit when closed and the results are pretty close to a standard wave

2 weeks ago I had coffee brewed with december dripper in Andante cafe in Helsinki and was left unimpressed.

I've got no issues using my Kalita or December drippers.

The December Dripper is awesome! You can do some really interesting super course slow drip brews. Make sure to take an Allen wrench and clean the inside Teflon if you do get one. However I found my best brews came off of a V60 and now pretty much am exclusive to it (my2 cents)

I was never able to get a good cup with the December dripper. The other bad thing is that the December Dripper is badly designed and it break easily and none will help you. Mine is broken somewhere while the Kalita wave is still there making great coffee cups

I haven't yet seen a clear advantage over the wave
