I got electrocuted from one that was electrifying the water. There was no safety labels on any of the components such as UL or ETL. So I do not recommend them.

Have this on my tank. Unit lasted about 4 years and just recently died. Super stable and I will be getting another

Been useing finnex titanium’s for a few years. Some good some the controls just don’t work. As in have to set to 88+ to get water to 82. Once you find the right temp they do hold it.

The heater elements themselves are excellent. Their temp controllers and built in thermostat for the higher end heaters are junk to me.

I like the heater very much.

But they aren't without issues, at some point over the last two years, each one had to be replaced because they were leaking stray current.

I've had decent luck with finnex titaniums. 2 out of 3 work properly. One shocked the crap out of me when I put it in the tank.

All I have ever used for the last 20 years or so. Coupled with a ranco, and apex as backup, my tank always sits at 78.5. While I have a backup, the current finnex in my tank is around 7 years old.

I have an 800 watt Finnex titanium heater that I have been using for about 3 year's as well. It may get stuck on or off, but it is very unlikely to explode.

Reef2Reef▲ recommend

I have been using the finnex titanium heating rods run off my apex for years. I have only had one fail, and it was at least 10 years old, possibly older.

FishLore Aquarium Forum▲ recommend

the white units have been working flawlessly for 6 years and I’ve used the black ones for two or three years successfully. The last five years, these units kept my discus tanks temps at a rock solid 86 degrees.

Aquarium Advice▲ recommend

I have found that the titanium heaters radiate the heat much better than the glass. The 300 watt I have effortlessly heats my 75g.

But for the vast majority of freshwater and fish-only saltwater setups, the Finnex STE is the one I recommend without hesitation.

Finnex Titanium all the way. I made the switch to this brand and won't look back. These heaters are incredible and look sharp.

Nano-Reef Communityⓘ good to know

I had one fry on me one night about 2 a.m. Woke up to a faint smell of burnt plastic. I tossed it and got a titanium Finnex.
