Cobalt Neo-Therm Heater

Based on 8 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners like the Neo-Therm for its slim, shatterproof build, accurate digital temperature control, and reassuring safety features, and many have run them for years without trouble. The main concerns are reliability, with a number of owners reporting units that overheated or failed, along with a price premium over basic heaters. If a built-in safety reputation and a low-profile look matter to you, it's a solid pick, but keep an eye on it as you would any heater.

62% of 8 verified owners recommend the Cobalt Neo-Therm Heater.

Just came home from thanksgiving and my neotherm nuked my whole tank too!! 95 degrees. My daughter is going to be devastated that her fish is dead!

My only issue with these, and I have used 4 over the past year and a half, is that the button to change the temp is extremely difficult to push, as you also stated but in addition they all have had failed light indicators.

But it keeps my tank at temp just fine since goldfish like cold water and it does not have to heat up much.

I prefer the Cobalt Neo-Therms. They are very reliable and have an LED readout of the set and actual temp.

I've had two Cobalt Neo-Therm heaters fail on me - strange burning smell followed by the breaker being tripped.

I would not use Cobalt neotherm. The first generation all blew up on me.

all my saltwater and my non turtle freshwater tanks run Colbalt Neo heaters because A they are sleek, B they have a ton of built in fail safes, C they are shatter proof and D I have heard many stories of in the event the ex blow the manufacture paying out to cover damages of lost live stock.

The shatterproof case provides a sense of security, and you'll never see this heater roll off your counter during those occasional cleanings.
