Aqueon Pro Heater

Based on 50 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners overwhelmingly like the Aqueon Pro for its steady, accurate temperature control, shatterproof no-glass plastic body, easy adjustable knob, and a lifetime warranty that backs up quick replacements. The real concern is reliability: a number of owners report units that cracked, split, or burst open, and some failures that let tanks overheat, with several feeling the newer dial version dropped in quality. It's a solid pick for most freshwater tanks if you register for the warranty and pair it with a separate thermometer or controller as a safety net.

68% of 50 verified owners recommend the Aqueon Pro Heater.

Yeah, the latest Aqueon Pro heater model has just sucked. The older one (blue dial) worked really well, so it's really disappointing how they just tanked the quality with the new one (clear dial).

An Aqueon Pro heater has a lifetime warranty, and that's what I have in both my tanks.

For a heater, I really like aqueon pros but I've also used any heater and like to replace mine yearly (it's not that I buy cheap heaters, it's literally I just don't trust them and they break seemingly easily).

I've been using Aqueon Pro heaters because they have a lifetime warranty and sure enough they replace it if it dies.

Now I just trust the internal thermometer on the aqueon pro heaters and use a digital one as a backup.

Don’t get the new aqueon pro heaters. The orange tip ones are so awful

I haven't had any major issues with it. Except for a calibration issue on mine, if I set it to 76 it is really heating to 74.

Went thru similar bs with aqueon pro heaters. 1st was cracked out of the box, 2cd died within a month.

I use aqueon pro heaters and I love them. Mine is 100w since my house stays pretty cold.

I would recommend an Aqueon Pro heater, they're adjustable, fully submersible, and extremely durable, 79°F should be the temp you're shooting for.

My 150's work hard to keep my 29s at 82 with my house at 70, I bumped the house temp a bit instead of switching to 200s.

i have had nothing but bad luck with the aqueon and aqueon pro heaters.

Aqueon and Aqueon Pro heaters are great ime. I see the Pro suggested here all the time, and I have that and the regular Aqueon heater in my tanks. Both are great, reliable, and (importantly) adjustable.

The Aqueon Pro that just died in my basement I found out about because I got a push notification on my phone that my aquarium temperature was 71°F.

I bought two Aqueon Pro heaters, Both failed at nearly the exact same time for the exact same reason: the plastic heater body split at the base.

I always use multiple heaters in my tanks. For example in my planted 75 gal I have 2 of the 250W heaters.

I had to run 4 300w aqueon pro heaters to achieve around 72 -78°F …

they can and do burst. Seen a couple exploded aqueon pro heaters around.

I had a aqueon pro heater fail and I caught it at 93.

I've had an aqueon pro heater in my 20 long for over a year now and it's still working perfectly. Once I got the temperature set correctly I haven't had to adjust it once.

I've had 3 fail in 7 years. But mine gets hotter, and hotter.....keep having to turn them down, but they fail to shut off eventually.

I have a 10g and have the 50 watt Aqueon pro heater! Works great!! It’s really cold where I live now. Thermostat in my house will say 69 Fahrenheit and the heater keeps my tank steadily at 80!!

I don't trust any glass heaters at all anymore. Even the good ones eventually leak or get stuck on. I would only use either the Cobalt Neo-Therm or the Aqueon Pro.

I noticed my aqueon pro 150w heater busted open. I've always unplug my heater when doing a waterchange so there is no product abuse here. It's to my surprise that this product didn't work as promised. I won't be buying anymore Aqueon plastic heaters.
