I think a close second is the TWSBI Diamond 580 AL R. Both pens have a slightly heavier grip section which means you don't need much pressure to write at all

I put Robert Oster Shake n Shimmy Envy in my TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR <F> and it clogged by the end of the first sentence!! I suspect the fine nib didn't like it.

A TWSBI Diamond 580 was my first fountain. I enjoyed the writing experience, but soon found that that not being able to post the cap was a little nerve wreaking for me.

I recently bought my first TWSBI Diamond 580 in Fine and was disappointed how scratchy it felt.. whereas my Pilot Metropolitan is as smooth as glass.

I have the TWSBI Diamond 580 Fine nib and my experience is similar to yours. It works well on thicker papers but the scratchiness is more pronounced on my Tomoe River.

What does make a different is a manufacturer who implements a good cap liner that seals well. In my experience, that is TWSBI. I have a pen dedicated to signatures or otherwise writing that needs to be neat and colorless, which is my TWSBI diamond 580 ALR extra fine.

Can't recomment TWSBI580 as mine is so problematic in real life(on paper it looks like a steal)

My favourite demonstrator I own is the TWSBI Diamond580.

My twsbi eco cracked, and my twsbi diamond 580 had a bad nib, but I would buy another because the nib from the twsbi eco feels great in my twsbi 580 and the ink lasts a month. Also it looks gorgeous.

My Pilot VPs or my TWSBI Diamond 580(Regular, AL or ALR) (M). I can write or draw with them for literally half a day and still have no hand issues. The Diamond does win on Capacity.

I have a Twsbi Diamond 580 ALR with an EF nib. It does write very fine lines and I have used it for my small handwriting. However, I changed it to a F nib recently because it is a bit scratchy to me.

A few days ago I discovered some cracks in a TWSBI diamond 580 nib B.

I bought the 580 ALR with a fine nib but it was too scratchy (sound & feel) on any type of paper I chose to use. After 4+ years I finally swapped the fine nib for a medium and it now writes beautifully.

TWSBI diamond 580 alr in sunset yellow. Writes well, good capacity, I like the color, and harder to replace than some of my other top go-tos.

TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR Prussian Blue – holds too much ink, all the usual TWSBI caveats, blah blah. But it has a custom nib grind from Mark Bac

Mainly a TWSBI Diamond 580 (B nib) for everyday writing.

Ugh, this happened with my TWSBI diamond 580 too

I have one TWSBI, the diamond 580 in EF and yeah that line is probably equivalent to a Japanese MF, I'd say and pretty wet.

TWSBI Diamond 580 with a medium or stub nib (I have both). Out of the two, the stub is obviously better for showing shimmer, however, the medium is useful when I actually want to read what I write.

I have a TWSBI 580 Diamond that was leaking ink into the grip section, and around the grip section. I took the pen apart and discovered that the black plastic part that holds the feed had broken.

These pens are great workhorses. I used to have a TWSBI580. What I liked so much is that you 100% decide what happens to the pen yourself, you can take it apart completely, clean and service it yourself etc.

I bought a TWSBI Diamond 580 EF recently that I was initially really disappointed in, especially having put a full fill of my favorite Sailor Yuramenku in it, but then I tried it on a 2025 Hobonichi Weeks and it's like it was made for this paper.

I had series of cracks in the upper portion of the barrel just below the filler knob. I tried contacting TWSBI on their website on eBay and never got a response.
