It really peeved me off. I was expecting the pen to make my handwriting look more elegant. Turns out, it just made it worst.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

No doubt it's a well made pen. Solid click to cap and un-capping. A satisfyingly stout screw converter mechanism. A clip that would qualify as mil-spec. But, the nibs are iffy.

I also think the Safari is one of the best fountain pens of all time. I have three Safaris, and they are all inked and get as much use as the other, much more expensive pens in my collection.

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

it's a weird shape and the brightware on it looks unattractive. That's why I bought a Vista

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I do find that the Safaris tend to be a bit too broad for my tastes and they're a bit inconsistent at times. I've had amazing Safari Fine Nibs and so-so Fine nibs.

The SafarI is an excellent pen in its price category and great choice for beginners. I think it will outlast most other pens in its price range by decades.

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

I feel that the 15$ Safari is too expensive or too unremarkable a product

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

The expensive proprietary converter started leaking after 6 months, so I bought another, making it not such a good deal. The black does wear off the nib after a while, and my fine was more like a medium.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

the Lamy Safari is one of the best fountain pens for beginners, and I would even go so far as to say it's one of the best fountain pens of all time

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

I can't get past the triangular grip. It makes my hand feel cramped up.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

My only criticism of Lamy nibs is that they can be broader or narrower than advertised. I have had medium nibs that are broad and some mediums that are fine.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

the safari was the first "non disposable" fountain pen i got and i love it. Though the fine nib is kinda dry to me though.

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

Can't say I'm a fan of the safari though.  Grip issues for me.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

The nib was rather rough to begin with though it has got smoother with use. Its a tough pen that will last but I find the cap does not clip on tight enough

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

This is a very nice pen. I actually like the triangular grip section, since I naturally hold my pens in a tripod grip.

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

I had one significant complaint: surface texture.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I would probably agree with the OP that the Safari doesn’t improve the look of my writing. But it’s a rugged EDC and unfussy travel companion.

My Safari Charcoal used by me for everyday writing more than 21 years, & I never faced ink flow or ink leak problem!!

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

I hate the plastic of the safari so much.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

The pen is a joy to use, smooth and slightly wet. What I find is after a rest the ink flow reduces so I have to expel air from the converter

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I was rather pleasantly surprised, found it quite a decent broad nib, very smooth, and a great buy for the price.

Fountain Pen Network▼ don’t recommend

I HATE THIS PEN!

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

it's a reliable writer with a tiny, albeit constant, amount of scratchiness. I don't like the design, and I think it's much too light

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

The one I tried in a store wrote very smoothly and felt comfortable in my hand, even with my weird lefty grip.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

Since I've learned to hold my pen as in my avatar, triangular grips don't work for me any longer. Otherwise a lovely pen

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

agree that its a high quality inexpensive FP.... I have been using a red one (or two?) for many many years

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I agree that Lamy's F nibs tend to lay down intolerably thick lines, so I've had to replace the nibs on any Lamy pen

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

The addition of a bright steel nib makes a tremendous difference to the overall appearance of the pen.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I find the nibs pretty dry and scratchy. It's not terrible, but just enough that I'd rather use something else.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

How can you really go wrong with the Lamy Safari, I have a few and never had any complaints myself

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

Lamy has decided to be cheap these days. The ABS plastic is thinner and lighter compared to th eearlier Safaris.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

Indestructible, smooth nibs, and relatively inexpensive---all qualities that make them great pens.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I personally believe that size of the font are too thin. It does not present nice comfortable readable font.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I've been very happy with it and se it as being of extremely good value and not as a budget pen!

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

ABS plastic body of the new Lamy Safaris are "thinner & lighter" than the older models? Sad!!!!!!

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

You can get a great writing experience from an inexpensive pen. The Lamy pens are one example.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

the triangular grip is not for everyone...I was one of those that just didn't like the grip

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I always enjoyed using them. Lamy (and TWSBI) is the only pens I don't mind their steel nibs.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

Make the slightest change in the angle and it gets scratchy and inconsistent with ink flow

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

The big question. If I was in the market for such a pen, would I buy one? A resounding yes.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

the nibs and feed assembly quality is somewhat varied resulting in skipping for my use

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

My Safaris are great pens, with smooth nibs. A larger ink capacity is all that I wish for.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

My problem with the Safari is that it is a bit awkward to hold due to the funny grip.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I enjoy writing with the Safari as much (if not more) as pens that cost 20 times as much.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I think the grip shape and that humongous clip is an issue for many, myself included

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

it is an inexpensive (dare I say cheap?), reliable, fun, and indestructible fountain pen.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I really like the pen, color, shape, design; I just wish the nib would smooth out.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

My experience with the Lamy Safari has been exactly the same as yours, I love that pen.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I love Lamys but don't expect them to last more than a couple years.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

for me the metal section was less comfortable to hold than the plastic one on a Safari

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

even though I loved the pen and grip I wasn't crazy about the nib

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

It really is a marvelous instrument, all the moreso because of how inexpensive it is.

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

Its a grat starter pen. Easy interchangeable nibs. Inexpensive

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

the Lamy Safari is a quality pen that writes well, and I think it is worth the price

Fountain Pen Network— neutral

I've found the nibs are rather hit and miss sometimes

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

Lamy pens in general really are great! I've never had a Lamy pen that I didn't like.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

Overall, an excellent fountain pen, especially considering the interchangeable nibs.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

this pen is a great pleasure to write with, performing well on lower quality paper

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

was so pleasantly surprised that I have purchase five more in the two years since

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

A Safari was my first pen as well, you really can't go wrong for the price.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

Plus they write well. Like some "drivers'" cars, they're "writers'" pens.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I like the 1.1 nib... it puts down a line similar to the 0.9 Stipula nib.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I don't really like Lamy pens that much but the Safari is right my alley.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

The nib is hardly a revelation, but the pen is serviceable and durable.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

one of the best classics if you want a well made pen for a decent price

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I've always regarded the Safaris as pretty much bullet-proof writers.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

The ergonomic feature near the nib positions your finger in a snap.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I had forgotten how well they write for what they are. Great pens.

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I, too, am a fan of the Lamy Safari. I like the design, the weight

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

Safaris/Vistas are my daily users together with a Schneider Smart

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

as my only safari, I guess I was lucky because it is perfect !

Fountain Pen Network▲ recommend

I didn't think I could get used to the triangular grip either
