Marshall CODE 50

Based on 189 comments across 2 communities
TL;DR
Owners are genuinely split on the Code 50. Fans love how many tones, presets, and amp models you can dial in, how loud and gig-capable it is, and the price-to-features value with Bluetooth app control. Detractors say the stock speaker is weak (many swap it out), the presets sound boxy and lifeless out of the box, it's too loud for bedroom levels with a touchy master volume, and the app and Bluetooth can be flaky. The common thread: it rewards patience and tweaking, and people who won't put in that time tend to hate it.

55% of 189 verified owners recommend the Marshall CODE 50.

Currently own a Marshall Code 50. Was very disappointed at first. Played it and wasn't happy. Sounded dull and lifeless. Also couldn't get the Bluetooth to work. Let it sit for many months without touching it. Updated the current firmware a couple weeks ago and now it sounds much better.

I have a Marshall Code 50 and I don't love the chorus on it so I figured I'd upgrade it

Otherwise it’s an awesome amp, even tho there’s a ton of built-in effects and simulations, it works very well with pedals. I highly recommend it!

I used to have a Marshall Code 50 but I found that I was playing with all of the presets more than I was actually playing. SO I sold the thing

I have a Marshall Code 50 which is WAY more than enough for anything I'll need (I played it with a live band yesterday and I only had the volume up to about 3 with a live drummer). It's got a ton of effects built in

I have a marshall code 50. I like it a lot but i never use it anymore. It collects dust in the basement. It can actually make any sound you can dream up.

In reality, the code 50 had too many dealbreakers for me to live with

Well, I'd say you can go Marshall Code 50, but you have to mess around with the presets, but there's a page where users submit their presets and you can find that stuff there.

The CODE 50 on the other hand, is a magnificent amp for the money. Loud and still portable with the ability to still sound great at bedroom levels and its digital presets and modeling can help you sound like ANY marshall amp that has ever existed.

I have a Marshall Code 50 and it’s okay if l play in my dorm room alone. But playing it trying to apply to the more experimental stuff I try to write it isn’t the best when it comes to that.

I am also a bedroom player and I have a code 50 and i get nice metal tones out of it, I mainly play metallica.

I first had a marshall code 50 and liked it a little but then I got a boss Katana 50 and very quickly sold the code 50. The code was every bit a digital modeling amp but the katana sounds like a real amp

I went to guitar center and played out of the Marshall code 50 with this Jackson guitar with like usual Jackson passive pick ups, and I couldn’t believe how much it sounded like mustaines tone.

Do NOT buy a Marshall Code 50. I comment this any time someone brings them up on this subreddit. The amp is mediocre at best.

I bought a Marshall code 50 a while ago thinking it might be better for writing and keeping in my living room but it is equally as tweakable as anything else.

As someone who has a code50: I dont really like how the phone app works... I found myself never using it (the bluetooth connection being hard to establish is also a pain) and wishing i could just tweaking and making presets on the pc like you can with the mustang. Maybe marshall will make an app available in the future, i really wish it.

I also have a Fender Mustang mk ii and had a Marshall CODE 50 and I think both are better in some ways.

Marshall code 50. Damned thing is pretty cool, but I've got actual tube amps that i could plug into their fx return

I've got one and it's got a very loud, 50W 12" speaker. I think it's pretty good for what it is.

I'm not normally a fan of cleans on my Code 50, but the tube amp cleans seem to have a "sweetness" I really like.

I've had a Marshall Code 50 before and would 100% recommend the Katana over it. I never really thought the Code sounded good, and feature wise it felt a little lackluster.

Marshall CODE 50, most settings had either too much or too little gain and everything was boomy and shitty Bluetooth speaker levels of bass.

If you currently have the Marshall CODE 50 (and also updated its firmware), it's perfectly fine for a few years.

I have a Marshall code 50 and it’s great because you can check out a whole bunch of different amps and cabs via simulation as well as test a bunch of different pre effects
