Boss Katana 50 Gen 3

Based on 106 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners overwhelmingly praise the Katana 50 Gen 3 as a remarkable value, delivering great clean and modeled tones plus a deep stack of built-in effects that replace a pile of pedals. Many find it feels tube-like and dial in sounds they love, though several note the stock tones underwhelm until you tweak them and the editing interface can be fiddly. A few players also feel it leans processed next to a real tube amp and wish the 50-watt had an effects loop.

61% of 106 verified owners recommend the Boss Katana 50 Gen 3.

It sounds great when you figure out what the heck you're doing, and has a nice clean setting as well.

The katana feels very tuby to play.

I have the katana50, but don't really like it... The idea of having over 50 built in pedals sounds great, but the interfaces are unintuïtive...

It is well praised everywhere and was fun at the store, but somehow it didn't click.

I recently got a Boss Katana 50 Gen 3 - an amazing amp for the price. Highly recommend it.

The tube amp is more responsive and alive, while the Katana sounds processed.

However, when I realized that fuzz is the tone that I am looking for, katana50 didn't meet my requirements.

when I can I always use Katana50, it just sounds so much better.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I currently have the Katana50 and its not too hard to get bedroom volumes out of it, Im just not really that happy with the tone at any volume.

so I bought a Katana50, & regretted it because of horrible editing system

Her şeyiyle mükemmel ama Bluetooth aparatı ayrı satılıyor ve o da ucuz değil.

I now mostly play through a Boss Katana 50 Mk III. I think I paid $339 for it. The Gen 3 is out and selling for $269. I can get fantastic clean tones out of, and just about everything else.

However, I absolutely love the MKII 50. So many possibilities for sounds without dropping down a fortune on pedals.

Katana will have tons of effects if dialing in your tones and versatility is what you're looking for. It will absolutely nail almost none of them but sound pretty good

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

The sound is light years better than K50.

But for the price I'm still getting great bedroom and jamming sounds out of both MX5 and Katana units.

you would need a speaker upgrade for high gain tones. The stock one is good for cleans but gets shrill and fizzy as you turn up the gain

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I had the same problem. I updated everything, followed every FAQ. I follow the instructions from support. Nothing would work

Reddit— neutral

the fact that the 50 missing the FX loop kinda sucks, it forces you to upgrade to something bigger that you don't need

Reddit▲ recommend

These two things were what I really wanted and not needed . They make me really happy.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I had one and absolutely hated it but I have half a dozen amps and lots of pedals so it just didn't add anything for me

Reddit▲ recommend

It opened a world for me, it has all the options is need and sounds great to me!

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

the amp models in that thing blow the Boss out of the water if you ask me

The Gen 3s just weren't that big of a technological leap to justify spending twice as much
