Owners consistently say the MegaLite punches above its 30F rating, with many staying comfortable down into the teens and 20s using just a liner or extra clothes. They love the roomy wide cut, the light weight, how small it packs, and the obvious build quality. The main tradeoff is the high price, and taller sleepers note their toes can reach a cold spot at the foot.
93% of 29 verified owners recommend the Western Mountaineering MegaLite.

“I slept on a Nemo Tensor Insulated and in a Western Mountaineering Megalite (with 340gr of down fill). This was comfy, but I did wake up early morning because my head was cold, after which I put on a beanie. Haven’t tried this set up in lower temps, but expect I would need to wear more than a base layer when the temp drops to below zero.”

“The Western Mountaineering is the better of the two, just feels better, a bit warmer, and I swearing can almost smell the quality. It is hard to describe but if I have to buy another bag I would gladly pay the extra for the WM.”

“as I'm 6′ 2″ it is slightly too small. I fit inside but my toes poke the ends and cause a cold spot.”

“Sold the quilt and got a Western Mountaineering Megalite and LOVE IT. It's super warm/wide and I can do all my weird bent knee sleep positions in it. Plus it weighs 1 oz less than the quilt so...#savings”

“I've even had one of these zipper snags tear a small hole in the fabric of the MegaLite.”

“I moved on from a western mountaineering megalite. Both are top of the line quality as far as I can tell.”

“I hiked the whole trail with a Western Mountaineering Megalite 30F. You can always wear clothes in it if you're cold.”

“I use the western mountaineering megalite (30 deg Fahrenheit) quite a bit. Good zippers, really comfortable, packs up into nothing, roomy structure, and I’ve camped down into 10 degrees with it to good effect (YMMV). It is expensive, but with down products, you really get what you pay for.”

“I also have a Western Mountaineering Megalite which is a bit warmer and heavier. Both are very well made.”

“My main sleeping bag is a Western Mountaineering Megalite, overstuffed by a couple of ounces to give it an approximate 25F comfort rating. When I add a Sea to Summit Reactor lining and a pair of Goosefeet Gear down socks, I can take that same bag to near zero.”

“I camped on Saturday night with a western mountaineering megalite 30° in what my weather app said felt like -5° temps near at pictured rocks national lakeshore. Combined with an x therm pad, closed cell foam pad and BD el dorado tent I was surprised to be warm all night long. Only problem was condensation build up. I’ll probably never go with another bag com”

“I purchased a western mountaineering megalite, its probably twice as warm as my synthetic vango bag and easily pack to a quarter of the size, and also cost 10X more 🤣🤣 Absolutely worth it.”

“I use a [Western Mountaineering MegaLite](http://www.westernmountaineering.com/sleeping-bags/extremelite-series/megalite/)... it is very expensive, but it packs tiny and is quite warm and super light.”

“The rest of the time i use a Western Mountaineering Megalite. Technically it's a 30 degree bag but it can go in to the twenties no problem.”

“A Western Mountaineering Megalite 30 comfort rated bag was plenty warm. Most nights I slept on top until 3-4 am when it got cold.”

“I can attest to this, I've used my Western Mountaineering Megalite (30°F rating) down into the 20's and been comfortable.”

“Well, I have a Western Mountaineering MegaLite, which is 1.5 lbs. All around excellent but expensive as hell ($550+) and has gone up significantly since I bought mine 6 or 7 years ago and it was very expensive then. Do I recommend it--for sure.”

“They rate it to 30, but that's a very conservative number. While it may not transfer well to you, I've used it and been quite comfy in the mid-teens.
I've had mine for many, many trail nites, and have had no issues whatsoever. Spendy, but worth every nickel.”
