KitchenAid Artisan Mini KSM3316X

TL;DR
The KitchenAid Artisan Mini wins over owners with small kitchens who value its compact size, lighter weight, and the trusted KitchenAid build, and it handles small-batch baking and treats like whipped cream and buttercream nicely. The trade-off is real: the smaller bowl caps batch size and struggles with bigger or heavier recipes, and several owners ran into the standard beater leaving ingredients unmixed unless they switched to the flex-edge beater. If counter space is tight and you cook for one or two, it fits well; if you bake in volume, a full-size model is the better pick.

It only has the two styles of bowl available. I don't think it can use the ice cream bowl, and possibly one of two of the power hub attachments, simply because of the height clearance.

I landed on an artisan mini for the DC motor

I just started using my mini more often lately an am having issues with there being dry ingredients not incorporated in. I calibrated the beater and still having issues.

The motor isn't as powerful, though it is a DC motor instead of the usual universal AC motor, so it has better torque at lower speeds. It has very small bowl volume - about 1/4 smaller than the smallest conventional tilt head. Batch size is pretty limited.

I've had great experiences doing tough things with my nylon-geared KitchenAid artisan mini, for about 8 years now

I have a Kitchenaid mini. If you have space for a full sized model, I would just wait for a sale and get that instead. The mini is nice if you have a small kitchen but it’s too small for some recipes.

if your partner winds up using the mixer regularly, the mini will ultimately disappoint; because of its size, its utility is limited

I got the 3.5 a few years ago and never found it too small for my 3 person household. It was that size or nothing for my small kitchen, so it was a good trade off for me.

There is a flex edge beater for the Mini, that works really well to mix the batter. If you have the regular beater I find it always leaves some areas untouched no matter how much you calibrate it.

I would definitely get the smaller one. I have the larger one and wish I had the smaller one. My kitchen space is small and the smaller one is lighter weight.

I bought a refurbished Kitchen Aide Artisan Mini from eBay for $199. It was sold by Kitchen Aide and came with a two year warranty instead of the usual one. I have a small kitchen and it’s has worked out well.

I got the Artisan Mini 3.5 Quarts for myself for Christmas a few years ago and works great. You know, the mini is the only one that can scrape even at the bottom of the bowl and it doesn't miss any of the mixture unlike some of the bigger Artisan mixers.

This is the size I have had and loved for some 30 years.

I have the mini, because my kitchen is small and it looks good on my counter and is also light enough to put away easily. I don’t want any extra attachments and don’t want the icecream bowl. I'm cooking for 2 so I make single loaves of bread and half batches of cookies, I think the bowl is perfectly sized for these quantities and a larger bowl wouldn’t work
