KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus KV25G0X

TL;DR
Owners who use the Professional 5 Plus for bread and pizza dough say it powers through heavy batches and earns a lasting place on the counter, with many keeping theirs running for a decade. The most common gripes are how loud it is, often growing louder over time, and recurring trouble with attachments that chip, corrode, or seize in the port. A few owners pushing very heavy dough also report it getting taxed and even a burnt-wiring smell, so opinions are genuinely split.

Once I started baking bread I bought a bowl lift professional 5 plus. It is way tougher and works well, but heavy dough really taxes it and I have smelled burnt wiring a few times while kneading. I like the tilt head for medium duty work, but I don't think I would recommend a bowl lift to anyone.

I have the 5qt bowl lift model and I love it. The only downside is that it doesn't do well with very small batches of meringue; but meringue powder is pretty inexpensive so I just make a little more than I need.

All metal gears in the same style as the older Costco pro 600. It was never quiet and seemed to get louder over time. Eventually, a gear problem came about. We used it for at least 8 years problem free, maybe 1-2x week on breads and other doughs, and I was able to fix it with a $20-$40 kit off Amazon.

I'm desperate at this point because it feels like I wasted a ton of money on something that is basically useless.

the Pro 5 series stuff is made for that stuff - the bowls even latch into the frame. We didn't get the one with the crazy 600w motor, but we got the next step down (450w) for $229 on black friday.

I have the pro 5 plus and do not have this issue (just used the dough hook tonight) Perhaps you can tap it back in place? I think this is kind of a monkey model tbh

Source; I've got the same unit, it's absolutely everything I could ever want in a mixer.

Has anyone had issues with their coated flat beater chipping? I've used mine probably 30ish times and the darn thing chipped this week after making cookies and banana bread.

Mine stucked at the beginning too. But they “grinded”together after a few uses and works well, easy to applicate. Warm water on the hook helps.

I love, love, love mine. It's the professional series - I think it's 450 watts.

At this point I have to decide to keep fighting with it, switch back to Artisan and deal with hopping, or be a crazy person and buy an Ankarsrum

Happens to me EVERY SINGLE TIME. So I’m ready to change to a better product. The price w3 pay for the mixer, we shouldn’t be having this issue.

It's also a 5 plus that is compatible with 6 qt bowls. It's an amazing mixer.

I don’t use the official attachments because of this. They seem to corrode and make a small amount of swelling inside the opening.

It’s a KitchenAid Professional 5 Plus and it’s a beast. I’ve had it 10-12 years now and it’s used on average 3 times a day.

I used both of them and returned. Both are big for a smaller portion. 3qt comes with Sam’s kitchen aid but it was not right to fit. I felt like they just give it to you extra to attract but it was not working well, not scraping everything even though it’s small bowl.

We use it to make pizza dough weekly and it makes the process so much easier.

I recently brought a KitchenAid professional 5 plus series stand mixer. What's more awesome is that it's on sale right now. And makes life more easy for example if I plan to do corn based dough or anything that has to be mixed by hand now I have this treasure.

And yes, I use mine almost EXCLUSIVELY for bread and pizza dough. It powers through it like it's NOTHING.

it was very loud and sounded as though it was one of those heavy weight powered commercial mixers.

Same one I own, and it's great.
