Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro)

Based on 29 comments across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners love the iPad mini A17 Pro for its perfect one-handed size and portability, calling it the best all-around iPad and a fast little media, reading, and note-taking machine. The A17 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM feels snappy and handles anything, with battery that lasts all day. The recurring gripes are minor: it's really a consumption device that's too small for serious productivity, and the jelly-scroll effect is still faintly there, though improved over earlier minis.

66% of 29 verified owners recommend the Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro).

the mini is a nearly pure content consumption device for social media, some books, navigation when camping.

I got the A17pro mini, it’s a beast.

I already have an iPad mini A17pro with a mega slippery glass screen so that would be a no from me.

My Mini A17Pro has it and it's kinda useless, another thing the community has been hating at. Generative photo editing is terrible, siri still seem useless and most just forget about it after a week.

That is what I use it for, watching media, browsing and reading kindle books. The mini 6 has the perfect form factor that allows you to hold it in one hand, which this carries.

I'd eliminate the Mini immediately, Air M3 works much better for a very similar price

The a17 pro works as a processor. I thought about the m1 or m2 chip but it would not add much for my use case. It’s a tablet and I wanted a tablet.

The A17Pro chip is fast enough for native iOS games, streaming (Steam Link, PS Remote Play). If I were to pick only one device to bring, it’ll be the iPad Mini.

I regret getting the iPad mini. Most importantly for me the screen sucks.

the small size of the iPad mini was too small for me to be productive.

I never used my iPad until I got the mini, now it goes everywhere with me and I use it at a constant. The size and portability are perfect. It’s quick and can run just about anything you throw its way

I can 100% absolutely still see it on the new mini A17Pro. Now that all said, it's definitely *improved* on the 7, and less noticeable.

On the Mini 7 the magnets are different so it won't stay connected to the side of the tablet and it won't charge. I can connect it through bluetooth but like you're seeing it does not work well at all and is constantly disconnecting.

iPad mini 7, a17pro chip, pro pencil, etc is my favorite. Small enough to conveniently use on a bus or train no worry about a failing creased folding screen.

I went from a 6 to a 7 and can feel the snappier CPU, I can’t imagine how good it would feel going from a 4. I also use YouTube in PiP and it’s buttery smooth. Would I say it’s a *must have* upgrade? Probably not, but enough solid QoL improvements all around to make it worth it.

I really like the size and portability. The a17pro chip is a really powerful chip and with this 8gb ram, which ofc is MUCH more better than the 4gb in mini6.

I use the Mini more than any other Apple device I own

Despite the compromises involved, I’m happy with my decision. The Mini is a far better size and weight for a tablet, much more easily portable, and in terms of real world usage it really doesn’t feel like a downgrade.

I got one for that price from Costco maybe a week or so after it was released and its definitely worth the money.

The size is excellent, I would even say for an everyday all round device it’s the best iPad out of the lot.

Fast forward a couple of months and it’s become extremely useful to use daily. I use it mostly for note taking and media consumption. paired with the Apple Pencil Pro I’ve started digital art too. Got a PlayStation 5 controller to go with it and damn it’s an amazing all rounder

The mini A17Pro, on the move for annotations, emails, task tracking, etc.

Reddit▲ recommend

The iPad mini A17pro is the best out of all of them. Thing is amazing.

I have since extensively tested the iPad mini 7 at the Apple Store and consider it a substantially better tablet. It just feels better in use.
