Amazon Fire HD 10

Scored on 430 verified owner verdicts, from 3,003 comments read across 5 communities
TL;DR
Owners mostly agree it's a great-value media tablet for the money, with a solid 1080p screen and long battery life that make it fine for streaming, reading, and handing to kids. The consistent complaints: Fire OS feels laggy and underpowered, there are ads on the lock screen plus Amazon bloatware you can't fully remove, and you have to sideload the Google Play Store because many apps won't otherwise install or run. Most fans only love it after de-bloating it; for anything beyond basic content consumption, people lean toward an iPad or Samsung.

59% of 430 verified owners recommend the Amazon Fire HD 10, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

I was instantly reminded why Android on tablets is trash. All the different app design languages, the shitty UI scaling, for example, are terrible. No UI optimization. It's just a complete dumpster fire experience. I packed it back up and will be giving it away.

they're fine for reading, watching a video, & basic games.

How is the Fire HD 10 Plus software performance? Not outstanding but good enough.

I’m using an Amazon Fire HD 10 Plus tablet with wireless Qi charging. The tablet works great as a dashboard to control the house using Home Assistant.

These Amazon tablets are hot garbage for anyone over the age of 12, but for younger children, they're actually very good.

I got an Amazon Fire HD 10-inch, and the performance is lacking. Very laggy and needs rebooting often to free up processing.

Amazon Fire tablets are "okay" for light gaming but if you're a hardcore gamer, Amazon Fire isn't for you. I purchased my Amazon Fire HD 10 specifically for reading digital comics and digital manga

I'm using a fire hd 10 which is probably the most tolerable version of it and little things like that are so damn annoying.

My setup is a cheap 2019 Amazon Fire HD 10 that I got for around $100...With the google play store sideloaded it’s the best bang for your buck. I been cloud and console streaming with amazing results. Just make sure you are using a 5ghz connection cuz without that it’s trash

Underlords doesn’t seem to run on the Amazon Fire HD 10, at least when I try to run it an error message comes up after downloading updated game files.

The Fird HD 10 doesn't have enough RAM, IMHO, at 3GB. I'm always waiting an annoyingly long time to switch between apps.

After getting the Play store and a new launcher it ended up being perfect; I'm typing on it now.

A very marginal update.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have my HD 10 set up the same way that the poster at the top of this discussion does and it all works fine.

Redditⓘ good to know

Size wise, I have an Amazon Fire HD 10, and that one is a bit unwieldy to read at, so I'd suggest something between 7'' and 8''.

Redditⓘ good to know

The tablet ran fine from a speed perspective, but I notice it heated up more and wasn't as good at keeping things in memory, presumably due to the memory required to run the various Google services constantly.

Redditⓘ good to know

Compared to the Galaxy Tab A8 and the Amazon Fire HD 10, the screen gets brighter (477 nits vs ~350 nits) and the black level is a lot lower.

Redditⓘ good to know

As far as the hardware specs go, **during discounts they are often easily half the price than competing brands.** But the **software is kinda shit, idk why**, since it's even older versions of android, which should be light enough.

Redditⓘ good to know

For the price, the Fire HD 10 really can't be beaten, because Amazon subsidizes it. Make no mistake, this is a basic tablet. The screen is solid, but not outstanding, the bezel is enormous and the entire thing is made out of (fairly decent) plastic.

Redditⓘ good to know

I was able to get it to work on an Amazon Fire HD 10 at home (using instructions here: [https://pokemongokindlefire.com/](https://pokemongokindlefire.com/)). It got the GPS from the wifi or through the mobile hot spot. It wasn't practical for going out
