“took them running in near 0 degree celsius conditions while on holiday and also noticed they were WAY firmer than expected, might be a temperature thing”
“Those still have good mileage left. Saucony foam is firm enough I personally run in them until the foam actually starts to poke through the tread. You could probably get another 50.”
“Looks like an incremental update”
“The outsole seems thinner and afraid the forefoot will wear down fast. Yes, it’s still firm and wish it had the bounce of the 1 and 3.”
“The ES 5, on the other hand, feels incredibly stable and planted to me. It doesn't have quite the same bounce but it is still energetic. So far, I think it's a phenomenal tempo and do-everything shoe.”
“they felt much lower stack, more "grounded" and I could feel the plate working both medially and laterally. I wanted something for long runs and I thought those might not be the best choice for me”
“Mine fit well but are more of a race fit and the geometry of the shoe works for me for shorter, faster running. I find my feet start to really ‘feel’ the shoes after about 10km at any kind of tempo pace.”
“I have not seen the tread wear out so soon on any of my previous shoes (they were all high stack). Most of the shoes show this kind of wear around 250 miles and then get replaced at 300 miles but this was much quicker comparatively.”
“Much better than I expected. They've had some 15 milers so far, and some sub 18 5ks, very very stable and comfortable. Found them far nicer than the Evo SLs.”
“felt the stack, cushion/responsiveness and roll of the Endorphin Speed 5 I randomly decided to try felt best of all, it also had the most secure upper.”
“It is narrower in the forefoot and toe box than the standard-width ES3 (which fit me comfortably), but wider than ES4 (which I couldn’t wear at all, way too narrow). ES5 is a little tight around my 5th metatarsal.”
“it just felt too firm right from the start with minimal bounce, not sure if i need to break it in more or because I'm a fairly lightweight runner. the nylon plate felt too flexible so i don't get the snap off or speedroll sensation also.”
“at about 230-240 miles I can definitely feel a difference in the foam. I want to say it started a little earlier too.”
“The 5 has a more snug fit but a roomier toebox. I had to really tighten the ES4 to get a good lockdown but for the 5 I had no problems. I'd say the ES5 fixes most of my fit problems, including the narrow toebox”
“I’ve been a big fan of the Endorphin Speed series, including the 5, and the Sonicblast feel like higher-stack, more aggressive ES5.”
“I personally like firmer shoes for the long run, so Endorphin Speed 5 and Boston 13 is in my long run shoes rotation”
“Within the first few steps wearing the Endorphin Speed 5, I could already tell the heel clunkiness I experienced with version 4 was already gone.”
“They feel very firm under foot, with very little bounce, life or rebound, and gave me a decent amount of foot pain.”
“they felt great the entire time. I expected them to firm up a bit more than they did in the cold but I really enjoyed them on the longer run”
“The Speed 5 still feels and rides like an Endorphin Speed but it has lost some of its punch and propulsion.”
“I feel like I get a higher cadence with the Speed 5, and they remind me of a more stable and a bit firmer Speed 3.”
“Slow sleep the ES5 isn't ideal, way too firm imo. For speedier runs/tasks I'd say yes, they can do it.”
“It's a little firmer and a little less snappy. This makes it a bit less fun but it's still a fun shoe. It's definitely more stable.”
“I agree with the shoe assessment though, they are done. Not worth having an injury due to that.”
