AquaClear 70 Power Filter

“Just before bed, I would put 2.5 gal in a pot on the woodstove to heat it, not to boil, and poured it back in to warm the tank. It never went below 70F, partly due to the woodstove. I only fed the fish twice during the outage.....minimal granules.”

“I am using aquaclear70 for filtration. Subtrate is pool filter sand. For CO2, I use a powerade bottle with yeast and sugar mixed, air tube has end of chop stick shoved in, that bubbles up into output flow of filter. I use Flourish once a week and Excel twice a week.”

“I started with two. Lotls have a large bioload. When i upgraded to a 60 gallon,(he grew at lightning speed), i ended up with a total of 6 filters. Four sponges and two aquaclear70 hobs. Seems to be the sweet spot for my guy. Lol. But its better to have too many, than not enough.”

“I have an aquaclear70 modified to serve as a refugium for my 20g long. Growing out chaeto pretty well. Also has filter floss, phosguard, and purigen in the bottom compartment below the refugium. Also experimenting with a DIY airstone skimmer, might try posting the results after a few weeks.”

“With the HOB filter you can run your filter floss and media and have quicker access to it than you would with a canister but there's not a whole lot of room.”

“I scoop it out of one tank and put it in my other without it and it always disappears. Idk what's going on but it could be that it's a 20g long with a aquaclear70 on it and has too much surface agitation lol”

“In my experience so far a larger breeder tank was cheaper than this setup so I felt I got more bang for my buck, but I tried the smaller route and struggled maintaining my water and cycle. I got my 40g breeder for like $60ish at Petco.”

“It’s a 55 gallon tank, an aquaclear70 power filter (300L/hour I think, but that’s just from memory), and I’ve got 9 neon tetra, 2 Platy, and a Betta in there. It’s a planted tank, although not heavily, as the plants are just starting out.”

“replace all media in aquaclear70 with [this](http://www.swisstropicals.com/library/swisstropicals-poret-foam/). its cheaper and way more surface area than any other media. i use it on all my aquariums. depending on a bioload, replace half of the media every week.”

“For a filter I’m using Fluval Aquaclear 70 with just the sponge media in it for the time being, a Fluval 50 power head for flow, and a Marineland 150W heater set to 77F. I used Carib-Sea black live sand for my substrate, and have one medium live rock from my local pet store in the tank as my starters.”

“I know canisters and saltwater don't really mix, but HOBs are fine. Maybe a goby type fish? I know bumblebees are OK, but all I can find is they're brackish only. No real info if they can go marine. I have time to decide on that. Husband thinks I'm insane setting up a big tank for one itty bitty fish.”

“I have never used that bacteria before but have heard good things about it so I assume it’s fine. I use seachem stability or fluval cycle. I’ve used those for my saltwater and freshwater tanks. Imo I would increAse the power of your filtration. When I had my 20G I had an Aquaclear 70. Always over filter.”

“Filtration is taken care of by an Aquaclear120 HOB and another Aquaclear70 HOB. The lights are just plant growth fluorescents. I've got 4 fancy goldfish, 3 dojo loaches, and a handfull of mystery snails. The plants are just a bunch of random buys from my local petco. There's some anubias, swords, ferns and the lily.”
