Owners overwhelmingly treat the Z6 III as a strong do-everything full-frame body, praising its much-improved autofocus, low-light image quality, ergonomics, and that excellent blackout-free viewfinder. The real recurring caveat is about a stop less dynamic range at base ISO from the partially-stacked sensor, though most who own it say it's exaggerated and barely noticeable in real shooting, while a minority shooting landscapes or pulling deep shadows do feel it. It suits hybrid shooters and event, portrait, wildlife, and travel work that values speed and autofocus over maximum resolution or shadow latitude.

“landed with Nikon Z6iii.
Loving the color reproduction of Nikon Raw so far. I know it’s raw and all raws are relatively the same, but if you have been editing thousands of photos you can see the difference. 😁
Not regretting I went with Nikon instead of Sony.”

“the Z6iii needs the vertical dual battery grip to comfortably get through the same afternoon event.”

“The Z8 is better than the Z6III, no doubts, and the price reflects that. Having said that, “100x better” may be a bit of a stretch.”

“I own a zf and z6iii and other than looks, I actually like how the camera operates more for setting exposure. It has both the shutter speed and iso dials, but also a dedicated exposure compensation dial in addition to main and sub command dials, which means in manual exposure you have the full triangle, unlike on my z6iii which only has two dials.”

“The sensations that the Nikon Z6 III gives me I haven’t felt for a long time with any camera, it’s a beast.”

“biggest regret was probably Z6iii (and it’s a great camera BTW)… reason being I realized at the end of the day I needed more megapixels… was doing a lot of cropping and landscapes where I wanted that fine detail and the Z6iii was solid but IMO just not enough resolution.”

“I'm using a Z6iii and the weight balance with this body is not as good. I'm considering getting a battery grip in hopes it would improve the balance a bit”

“The z6iii is what I use as a second body in case the animal comes too close for the 180-600mm on the z8 to work and I don't have to worry about autofocus. It's a good camera, but it is not the z8.”

“I have the Z6III and it is great, but I miss the high resolution I had with some previous cameras.”

“I have a Z6ii and Z6iii and I cannot tell a difference in dynamic range
I would go for the Z6iii since the price is so close”

“In the z6iii they went back to inserting the mechanical shutter but the problem still persists.
You always find a lot of them in used and this is the reason, I even demonstrated the problem and managed to get a full refund.”

“they didn't on my first Z6iii. Oops!”

“Specifically for Nikon Z6iii, you will want to shoot at ISO 800 or 6400. Exactly 6400. These two ISO values are the native values in video mode so they are way cleaner.
The values right before 6400, such as 3200, 4000 and 5000 are extremely noisy but improves at 6400.”

“I’m an astrophotographer and got a Z6III initially to replace my Z6 and I can confirm there was a significant enough of a difference for me to return the Z6III and continue using my Z6.”

“I compare my Z6 to Z6III and haven’t noticed any difference at all except in very extreme highlight/shadow which I probably never shoot in that situation without bracketing.”

“If you want to sell your camera 1 month after buying, go Z6III.
This coming from a guy that already bought all 3 and ended up only using the reliable FX3 for everything but photography.”

“I mostly shoot around 800-1600 ISO for events/performances and video capability was important to me so I picked up a Z6iii.”

“I myself got the Zf because it was much cheaper than the Z6III last year, even though I would have *very much preferred* the ergonomics and finish of the normal Z bodies”

“I have the Z6iii and while the autofocus is pretty good, I find it doesn’t quite nail eyeballs and as a result things have a sense of softness. I feel like I have a LOT more misses than hits.”

“I pretty much just pair the 24-70 with my Z6iii for videos now”
