ASICS Novablast 5

Based on 147 comments across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners love how soft, bouncy, and comfortable the Novablast 5 feels fresh out of the box, and most call it a versatile daily trainer with a roomy toe box for the price. The big recurring gripe is durability: the midsole bounce dies early for many runners, often between 100 and 300km, after which it feels flat and lifeless. A sizable group also reports forefoot or arch pain they blame on the front pod, and several note slippery grip on wet pavement and a loud, slappy ride.

41% of 147 verified owners recommend the ASICS Novablast 5.

ASICS Novablast 5 is a very popular and excellent choice for this category (I like this shoe as well)

I put 80km into my NB5's and realised they did not give me anywhere near enough stability, so I'm selling them on. Shame as I got them in Teal and they look incredible

I thought they felt like a somewhat lighter/slimmer version of glideride but not as good

The foam in mine started to die after around 100 km. Especially in the forefoot. After 250 km, it was dead. All of the bounce and energy return, has completely gone.

Currently running in the novablast and really enjoying the experience in them. Bouncy light weight and no heel slippage.

Asics Novablast 5 - soft daily trainer, still getting used to the softness

Asics Novablast 5 work fine for me

put 100km+ on my NB5 unfortunately they are not as responsive as before… If analogy helps: Under my feet those FFBlastmax foam turns into a smash burger everytime… Ordered Hoka Mach x2 to replace Nb5

it cut nearly 2 minutes off of my time and i had 0 pain throughout my entire body after the run

Great cushioning for longer runs, versatile enough to pick up the paces pretty effortless, IMO

I’d say the upper is softer and less durable than the SB2 so that may play a part in your decision for the break in. The toe box feels bigger in the SB2 compared to the NB5.

This arch pain has made me drop running. I'm so glad I found this thread. I thought I had done some serious damage after a half marathon. Time to get out the old trainers and get these on eBay I think.

After 20 miles or so I'd place the 5s somewhere between the 3 and the 4. A lot of volume, and almost feels like it's starting to lean max cushiony, but cuts a tiny bit of weight from the 4

I love the neutral fit, despite being flat-footed

All of a sudden I’m having terrible IT band pain and hip pain and feet numbness even with the shoe tied loose. I have a big race in 10 days. I’m wearing the 4s with 350+ miles on them instead of the 5s

so I got them and ran 3 runs in them all under 2 miles each. Tell me why by the 2nd and 3rd run my foot would feel like it’s cramping up by the end of the run.

both shoes offer great support; does not feel like they are being squished under too much weight

Just only used the shoe 3 times and happy to hear that after some good miles it feels better. The laces are exeptional that I dont need to stop and tie the laces as other shoes its a headache

I wanted to love the NB5 but I get foot numbness with it. Very similar to the SB2. Thinking it's that trampoline pod bothering my foot... Fit is fine and not laced tight so don't know what else it could be.

the asics novablast 5 are good as well they are much stiffer and better for pace running

Lo que peor llevo es cuando llueve. La zapatilla en mojado no va bien y es algo que se repite también desde versiones anteriores. Pero todo lo demás una gozada

it feels unnatural to the point that i didn't even buy them after jogging around the store with em (i did this twice because i didn't want to believe that i didn't like the feel of the shoe the first time around)

My personal 2 shoe rotation would probably be Novablast 5s and Puma deviate Elite 3

I find the NB5 actually makes me pay more attention to my form, cadence, and footstrike. So I use it for runs where I know I can stay fresh (6mi - 14 miles).
