Yale Assure Lock 2

Based on 144 comments across 4 communities
TL;DR
Most owners find the Assure Lock 2 reliable and well-built, praising its clean look, flexible protocol modules, and smooth smart-home integration. The big recurring complaint is the WiFi module, which drains batteries fast (some report a fresh set lasting only weeks) and drops offline, so many owners stick with the Bluetooth or Z-Wave versions instead. Touchscreen models can be hard to read in sunlight and slow in cold weather, and HomeKey isn't available on every variant.

59% of 144 verified owners recommend the Yale Assure Lock 2.

Few days in and I have zero complaints.

We use the fingerprint lock daily I'm guessing the battery life isn't great. It looks like it averages 15-20% depletion a month based on what Home Assistant is reporting.

I’ve owned Yale Assure and its meh in my mind. The module feels like jamming smart tech into a dumb lock and the lock itself is responsive overall but not crisp. I’ve also had jamming and configuration issues after the lock was set.

Personally I use the Yale Assure Lock 2 with the WiFi Module for the door lock and have it connected to Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.

I have the Yale Assure 2 and it drives me nuts that it reports the state wrong every so often.

BTW - my setup was a PITA as the Yale instructions are out-of-date. For instance - scanning the QR code for lock S/N failed during setup, but typing it in manually worked.

I bought my Yale Assure Lock 2 last year and it did come with the 500 series module. It is still quick to respond though, I have no issues with functionality.

I’ve been using the Yale Assure Lock 2 w/ HomeKit. Comes with a door sensor. Notifies you if/when door is closed or left opened.

I'm experiencing same issue with Yale Assure Lock 2 with ZWAVE but not as frequently. Super frustrating.

Honestly it performs about as well as I could expect it too but there are several peripheral annoyances.

The nicest feature of the Yale assure lock 2 is doorsense.

My Yale Assure Lock 2 with fingerprint reader died after less than a year and it took so much back and forth with support to finally get them to agree to send me a new one.

I had to factory reset the Yale Assure Lock 2 and restart my phone several times to get it to pair.

it's great BUT it keeps needing the Offline Key ...like...every 72 hours

The assure has a thumb knob which no guest is confused about. It also doesnt need a separate $50 keypad to work. And it uses the exact same app as the August. So Im now 100% assure lock 2

I have 2 Yale assure lock 2. They started off great but after 6 months I’m looking to switch due to consistent connection issues. It’s such a mess for me when they go down

I had the same problem with my Yale Assure Lock 2 and removing the Wi-Fi module helped a lot. Seems like the constant connection just drains the batteries super fast

Set it up through the Yale Access app and works perfectly.

Have you considered the curiously named Yale Assure Lock 2 Plus? I haven’t had any issues in the few months of owning it.

I have a Yale Assure 2 WiFi lock and it works great using the August Integration. However, like all wifi based locks that I have used, they have a tendency to use batteries up quickly.

I have the Yale Assure touchscreen deadbolt locks. I have the model with a physical key backup and they’ve been very reliable so far. App is easy to use and remote program

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Worst experience with any home automation tools has been Yale Assure 2. This lock is shoving "smart" tech into dumb lock via haphazard lockout preventing, App/Bluetooth is spotty. Avoid this product.
