Canon EOS R6 Mark II

Based on 101 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners are overwhelmingly happy with the R6 Mark II, praising its near-flawless autofocus and subject tracking, strong low-light performance, and effective in-body stabilization that shoots 4K without overheating, with several calling it one of the strongest hybrid cameras they've used. The recurring gripes are video-focused: IBIS "jello," the inability to disable IBIS while keeping lens IS, and codec limits that hurt 4K 60 slow motion, plus a few who miss the original R's ergonomics. It's a compelling pick for photographers and hybrid shooters who want dependable autofocus and reliable stills and video in one body.

79% of 101 verified owners recommend the Canon EOS R6 Mark II.

The camera seems to have a defect: occasionally, while shooting in H or H+ drive mode, the camera captures extra pictures after I've pressed and released the shutter.

The R6 Mark II blows them all out the water!

I sold my R last year for a R6Mark II. I miss the ergonomics and feel of the R in my hand.

same experience with R6mark II. This lens delivers 70-80% hit rate. Some shots are a very bit out of focus when compare with the tack sharp ones. Especially with eye tracking and use the eyelash for comparison.

It's REALLLY good. stabilization is excellent, I never touch my gimbal. It fixes practically all the drawbacks of the R6 and doesn't overheat in 4k. I also like the colors.

The IBIS jello is a problem on all the Canon FF. Worst of all you can't disable ibis and keep lens IS.

Although I must say autofocus and using it for a photo camera is insane. Doesn’t miss a shot.

I don't like the image quality of the R6/II with the electronic shutter, it reminds me a bit of my old 5D2

The Canon EOS R6 Mark II... Wow. How little I have to try for good shots being able to see it all in the viewfinder before I even snap the pic.

I use that lens paired with an R6Mark II camera and have no complaints, also use the 70-200 2.8 without an extender for closer shots.

the lens lock-in for Canon full frame native R-mount is enough to never choose them

the R6m2 isn't a great wildlife camera, I never really missed shots but I would at times rattle off a burst without getting any keepers

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Its very random Canon could not replicate it so nothing

But I have to say, for sports the R6 blows away all of them. The higher frame rate and autofocus gives me far more keepers.

I have an R6 and an R5.2. For wildlife I really think you want an R5.2 or R6.3 for three main reasons if you can afford it

I printed photos I took on my Canon EOS R6 Mark II (24MP) in 75x50cm and it looks tack sharp. I think you're fine :)

I returned my R6 for this specific issue

tracking is kind of like how AF was a couple or more decades ago. It works great some of the time in some situations

I ended up getting the R6mark ii. A local camera shop had a great deal for it. So far it’s an amazing camera

the best value is the R6 mk ii (especially second hand with all the people ditching them for an upgrade)

Reddit— neutral

Only thing from the 3 I would want on my 2 is the true preburst capture instead of the rawburst mode

Reddit▲ recommend

it feels like I need half the light for the same exposure and details come out so much better.

Reddit— neutral

R6M2 have flooded the second hand market and they're too lucrative to pass on them

I recently purchased a Canon R6 Mark II, probably the last camera I will buy
