Anova Precision Cooker Nano

Based on 22 comments across 1 community
TL;DR
Owners like the Nano as a small, affordable entry point that holds temperature reliably for everyday cooks. The most common complaint is noise, often a high-pitched whine, and several owners ran into reliability failures. It also struggles with larger baths and its design needs deeper water and is harder to clean than taller models.

I just set up a Anova Nano with a custom fit cover and 12 qt polycarbonate container with a rack found on Amazon. Good setup for two people and shorter cooking times. Makes a high pitched whining sound when running. Not noticeable from 10 feet away. Was able to just fit two racks of ribs each cut in half into this setup. Did have to fool around with the w

I replaced it with a Anova Precision Cooker Nano (750w) and it's annoyingly loud. It lets off a whine. The 950W was basically dead silent. Think I'll try out Inkbird.

In general, I would recommend an ANOVA Nano to start learning sous vide cooking, particularly when yu can get a deal on it. I am quite satisfied with the quality of my ANOVA Precision Cooker.

The new Anova Precision Cooker (and the Nano) is no louder (dB) than the old one, however, it makes a higher pitch sound, which some people find annoying.

I have the Anova Precision Cooker Nano, has a phone app where you can set all the parameters you want and let it do its thing. If you're going to do anything that requires a long cook (like 12+ hours) I recommend getting their 16L container (or something similar) so you don't have to faff around with adding more water due to evaporation.

After a few months the top screen part of the unit detached. Googling around it's clearly a common problem. It had replaced an earlier Nano which only lasted about a year before the water level sensor stopped working.

The Nano is the cheaper model obviously and it sometimes makes a high-pitched whining noise that's annoying.

I have it and usually fill my container with the hottest water out of my tap to give it a head start. It’s worked great for lower and higher temps

On my nano I think something is not working with the circulator properly so it throws the Low error as if it had low water.

I have had the Nano for over 3 years now and it's still going strong. I use it for two meals a day at least 5 days a week.

I have both, and the Nano annoys me. It’s design means the water must be much higher than with the taller one.

The nano is really just limited in the amount of heat it can put out, which means the bath heats slower and you need to make sure, if it is a bigger bath, than you keep it covered and fairly well insulated.

I use my Nano for larger items & for weird-shaped items, like jars for creme brulee, pots de creme, egg bites, etc.

i have never had the unit shut off from water and its really well insulated so i think it uses less electricity also

Our Nano last year developed a loud vibrating sound that no amount of descaling would fix.

My recommendation is to pay attention to the cleaning of the nano. It does not come apart like other models.

Have one, love it. Only ever used it for home stuff. Wouldn't work well for more than 12 quart vessel.

I got rid of my Anova nano from last years Costco Black Friday because it was SO loud.

The Nano was a brain fart that never should have happened.

Compared to my OG 900W model, this one is noticeably smaller and lighter with a more cohesive design. Didn't even notice much of a difference with heating time on this 850W Nano. I don't use the app so it pretty much works just the same. I do miss the roller wheel though.
