Breville Joule Turbo

Based on 17 comments across 1 community
TL;DR
Owners praise the Joule Turbo as compact, powerful, and quiet, with a fast Turbo mode and handy remote monitoring when everything works. But the dominant complaint is its total dependence on the app: with no manual controls on the device, a dropped connection or app issue can halt a cook mid-way and ruin your food. Add a thin library of Turbo recipes and repeated reliability and connectivity problems, and many owners say they can't recommend it.

35% of 17 verified owners recommend the Breville Joule Turbo.

The pork chops came out good but I think if they were cooked low n slow they would have been better.

I have owned several, love the app but they all stop working after about a year so I get a new one. I think it may be my hard water? It keep stopping and say it stuck, I take it apart, same thing.

I was actually a beta tester for Joule Turbo and own one (which I got for free). I'm also aware that delta-T sous vide has been common for years in professional kitchens.

it doesn't work on many things, steak is the main one. also there is a separate app for the the turbo. I believe the specs are the same as the original joule so don't rush out and get it

I had one for over 10 years and just replaced it. For me it was perfect, but I have no basis for comparison. I replaced it bc I dropped it and cracked the frame. Got the newest version a few months ago and it’s been perfect so far

That breville was a huge disappointment for me. Doesn’t meet the quality standards like their other products do. Bought one for my mom and it’s been replaced 2 times bc it randomly shuts off and doesn’t hold accurate temps.

I have both and I am still a fan of the original Joule. It really does depend on if you want the turbo's fast cook feature.

I've been using them for well over a decade, putting a fair number of hours on them and I'm up to #2. It's very reliable and has a strong heating element. The app gives you good functionality and monitoring cooks remotely is painless.

My Joule turbo arrived today. I immediately started playing with it and quickly discovered there are very few turbo recipes.

I won’t buy another Joule. Constantly fighting WiFi issues. Moving forward, I’m happy to have a circulator with WiFi, but only if it also has local temperature control, i.e., on the device itself. I cannot and will not recommend Joule at this time anymore.

i decided to try a joule unit this time. the turbo mode does work as advertised.

The joule is a great circulator, powerful, quiet, and compact. I love mine.

I've had 5 units in just over 5 years. All were replaced by Breville due to manufacturer defects.

I really like the turbo mode because it gets the job done in 30-45 minutes

It’s a piece of garbage in practice. It will drop network connection and just stop cooking.

My experience too with the one Joule I owned. Never again.

Received my Joule Turbo yesterday. Have 2 ”original” Joules. After pairing it, I go to the app recipes and see a total of 10 Turbo recipes, with a few being the same recipe, just with a different sauce, so only about 5 different recipes. No recipes for longer cooks like roasts or ribs. Then see it only works with fresh meat, not frozen.
