Anova Precision Cooker 3.0

TL;DR
Owner feedback on the Anova Precision Cooker 3.0 is thin and dominated by a single recurring defect: a firmware bug (traced to version 01.01.11) that prevents setting low temperatures, with several owners independently hitting the same low-temp lockout and swapping fixes (Celsius workaround, firmware update to 01.01.12) rather than each discovering it separately. A handful of other owners raised scattered, unconfirmed gripes — a flimsier plastic clamp screw versus the older 900W model, loud operation, poor customer service, a unit that failed after about a year, and the loss of a defrost mode after upgrading from the 2.0 — but none of these were echoed by enough owners to call a pattern. On the positive side, individual owners praised fast heat-up times, a dense/premium build feel, the dual time-and-temperature display, and strong cooking results (steaks, roasts, pork chops), but each of these was mentioned too rarely to establish as a genuine consensus pro.

25% of 8 verified owners recommend the Anova Precision Cooker 3.0, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

    • A firmware bug (seen on 01.01.11) blocks setting temperatures below about 89.6°F/32°C, the app either refuses the input or silently reverts to a high default (one owner returned from a defrost attempt to 90° water), and the only fix owners found was switching units to Celsius, zeroing it out, then switching back, or updating firmware to 01.01.12 · 6 · 75%
    Who it's for
    A great fit if
    • Home cooks wanting fast, precise sous vide for steaks, roasts, and pork chops
    • Users who value strong Wi-Fi/app connectivity over older 900W models
    • Buyers prioritizing a dense, solid-feeling build and clear two-line display
    • Cooks who don't need sub-90°F/32°C settings or defrost mode
    Look elsewhere if
    • Anyone needing low-temp settings (below 89.6°F) or defrost, due to a known firmware bug
    • Buyers sensitive to noise, as multiple owners report the 2.0/3.0 running loud
    • Those wanting durability past ~1 year, given reports of screens failing and a flimsier plastic clamp

So while Anova should definitely fix this defect, there is an easy workaround.

    Redditⓘ good to know

I had this exact problem just now in firmware version 01.01.11 The fix to switch it to Celsius and then set it to 0 degrees C worked. I updated the firmware to version 01.01.12 and have successfully switched it back to Fahrenheit and able to set it to 32 degrees F instead of 89.6 degrees F.
