Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3

Based on 22 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
The Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3 is a discreet, ultracompact camera that owners praise for its refined app, reliability, and effective glare control, with image quality that's clear enough for everyday driving. Its main trade-off is the 1080p resolution, which makes distant or oncoming license plates harder to read. It suits drivers who want a small, easy-to-live-with dash cam and don't need class-leading plate detail.

59% of 22 verified owners recommend the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 3.

worked great but when I went to change to a shorter cord the Atlas USB-C plug pushed back into the housing

Poor form from Garmin there

my go to was the garmin mini 3, small enough to not notice, records footage, easy to hard power

It takes great video but its slow to connect to from your phone via wifi

I put a garmin mini 3 in my daughters car and one in my parents car. No issues that I know of

Its smaller than an Airpods case, and tucked up next to the mirror is barely noticeable

compact device that offers reliable performance without occupying much space

Its contrast is its biggest strength, with the onboard Clarity HDR working to make registration tags clear and readable. Even at night, against my own bright headlights, I could make out plates directly ahead. With oncoming traffic, I had a harder time discerning them

I have a Garmin Dash cam that I love. It's called the mini 3.

the smaller details that one would want to zoom in on, like license plates, are pretty limited in readability unless you get fairly close for the capture (within 25ft or so). There just isn't the pixel count to resolve these small features in a screenshot of the footage.

the damn thing refuses to update through the app and Garmin Express doesn't recognise it

highly recommend the garmin mini3 camera

The video quality is ok, is just 1080p, you can see license plates in right conditions.

Both are very small and discrete

it does have a little noise when it starts up, but it's not annoying at all

Compared to the far pricier units installed permanently in our family vehicles, the image isn’t as crisp and clear from the Mini 3. That stated, both day and night footage is still clear enough to distinguish everything that is happening in the video, it’s just some license plates are harder to read.

So far so good

Small, non intrusive, easy to use. Has been very reliable for me for 15 months now. Video quality is only ok, but good enough for me as well

Phone seems to struggle to get live feed view.

the app and connectivity is really good. I can download a video from it, trimming a time period irrelevant of the clip length - it lets you select a time range and it will download and glue the videos together. Something I wish VIOFO had.

my wife’s car has a 3 in the front and 2 for the rear, both within a year but never had an issue with Garmin yet.
