Braun Series 7

Scored on 29 verified owner verdicts, from 1,451 comments read across 2 communities
TL;DR
Most Series 7 owners are longtime loyalists — plenty report units still running daily after 5 to 15 years, praising the close, smooth shave that rivals a wet razor and works fine wet or dry. A meaningful minority, though, get a genuinely bad unit: hairs get pulled or missed instead of cut, and some experience skin irritation or even cuts, especially around the neck. Complaints also cluster around the notoriously picture-only, hard-to-follow instructions and the cleaning-station cartridges, which dry up fast and gate charging behind a clean cycle. A smaller but persistent group flags durability weak points too — the plastic power button breaking and replacement parts being discontinued over time.

45% of 29 verified owners recommend the Braun Series 7, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

What owners like
  • Exceptional long-term durability, many owners report daily use for 5, 10, even 15 years with the same unit still running strong · 7 · 24%
  • Delivers a close, smooth shave that owners compare favorably to wet razors · 7 · 24%
  • Works well both wet (with foam/gel) or dry, and is gentle on skin without the razor bumps some other shavers cause · 3 · 10%
  • Owners feel it's worth the roughly $150 price and don't regret the purchase · 3 · 10%
What owners flag
  • Inconsistent shave performance, some units pull or tug hairs rather than cutting them, leave stubble, or fail to cut cleanly at all · 9 · 31%
  • Instruction manual is picture-only and widely called useless, leaving owners confused about cleaning-station operation and cartridge replacement · 6 · 21%
  • Skin irritation, rashes, or even cuts on the neck and face for some users · 4 · 14%
  • Cleaning-station cartridges are a recurring annoyance, solution gets dirty, evaporates within weeks, and the razor won't charge without running a clean cycle · 4 · 14%
  • Build-quality gripes: the plastic on/off button is prone to breaking, replacement parts get discontinued, and the outer coating can peel over time · 4 · 14%
Who it's for
A great fit if
  • Long-term owners who want a shaver that lasts 7-15+ years with basic care
  • Men who shave daily and want a close, smooth wet-or-dry shave in one or two passes
  • Guys with thick, coarse hair who want fewer passes for a full shave
  • Owners who don't mind the cleaning station and want low-maintenance upkeep
Look elsewhere if
  • Anyone with sensitive skin or neck, prone to irritation, rashes, or nicks from foil shavers
  • Buyers wanting cheap running costs, since replacement heads and cleaning cartridges add up
  • Those needing clear setup instructions, since many report the pictorial manual is confusing

Same problem. Stoubles. I had to use a regular razor to finish the job.

I have now a Trimmer and face brush. And you can buy others as per your need. But in the end, both are Saviors.

when using it dry, it does indeed miss some hairs. However when using it with some foam or gel it catches all the hairs more easily in one go.

Very smooth, no wet shaver touch-ups needed at all, Very smooth finish.

So it doesn't charge without running the clean cycle. Very smart of Braun to make sure you use lots of their expensive cleaning cartridges.

it is a great razor I only have to be careful with the little comb in the middle if I press hard when going against the grain it really hurts the skin

Misses many hairs with long smooth strokes, requires a scrubbing action with overlapping ~1-2cm strokes.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

It's garbage. The zig zag blade in the middle if the so called foil blades seem to be the only thing that cuts hair.

Seems kind of over engineered to me. Hopefully it preforms better than the videos I just watched.

I'm definitely disappointed. It doesn't work. Pulls hairs out like everyone I've ever tried.

Redditⓘ good to know

How long does the foil head stay sharp for you? With a brand new foil head it will shave my head much faster, but it seems to dull(?) pretty quickly. Like 2/3 months for me from what I recall

Redditⓘ good to know

People say it has lower quality in the newer models, series 7 used to be braun flagship for a while, it was higher quality then, but now the better option is braun 9

Redditⓘ good to know

I usually rinse with water between uses (every other day) then use the station once per week, definitely once every two weeks. Blades last me a year.

Redditⓘ good to know

Does anyone think that this applies to all Braun shavers? I'm considering on getting the Braun all-in-one trimmer series 7 or 9

Redditⓘ good to know

Any tips on cleaning? Do you use cleaning station and how often? Also how long do your heads last? Cheers

Redditⓘ good to know

2012 and changed head once. Battery life is starting to shorten. Where about did you go for spares? EBay?

Redditⓘ good to know

If painful you should replace the inner blade, it's become dull and tugging on your hairs.

Redditⓘ good to know

Im trying the series 6 foil shaver to see how it works. If its not so good ill get the 7.

Redditⓘ good to know

I think they want you to rinse any soap off it before playing it in the cleaning station

Redditⓘ good to know

Nice! And how close a shave does it give in comparison to a rotary/braun 9?

Redditⓘ good to know

To get it shaved as close as the braun can get I find the Phillips more irritating. I wipe both down with rubbing alcohol after I'm done rinsing them after use and that seems to help my irritation issues. Are you regularly replacing the foil head on the braun and still finding the shave not as good?
