Meater Plus

Based on 139 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Plenty of owners love it in the oven or for low-and-slow smoking, but a large share end up frustrated. The most common complaints are constant Bluetooth disconnects (often even with the block, phone, and router sitting inches apart), inaccurate internal and ambient temp readings, and short real-world range. A worrying number simply died or fell apart within a year.

53% of 139 verified owners recommend the Meater Plus.

Same thing with my meater plus. Worked amazingly for a few months, never abused it, and one day it just fails to connect to the block and drops signals when you're trying to cook.... I've given up on mine and it's a shame.

I used a Meater Plus probe that consistently showed the ambient temperature in the Traeger was 25 degrees lower than the set temp (i.e., I had to set the Traeger to 250 to get an ambient temp of 225). I didn't independently confirm the ambient temp, but I did cross-check the meat readings with my Thermapen, and they agreed every time

The only thing g that counts is the center temperature which you can accurately measure with a meat thermometer. I use a Meater plus

Have a MEATER plus, good for the joetisserie, no issues on my end after a year or so.

I like them. I have the single MEATER plus. I couldn’t get it to connect at all two weeks ago. Worked just fine yesterday. Internal temp is pretty accurate. Ambient temp is usually within 10 degrees of my Thermoworks smoke probe.

Be careful on the Meater plus, I had the same thing and after couple cooks the innards of Meater came out when pulled it out.

I really like my Meater plus, but it stopped working about 4 months after I bought it.

I am extremely disappointed with my Meater Plus. Its finicky. It's a diva. The wireless connection is spotty at best. I could have the charger less than a foot away and my bbq maybe 3 feet away from my wifi router and the connection will spontaneously drop and will refuse to come back.

i use the pro 575 and a meater plus probe. never had an issue

I bought the MEATER plus about 6 months ago and that thing is great. It’s been dead accurate.

I don’t love the range despite having the Meater Plus (don’t get the one without the range extending unit). It keeps track of previous cooks nicely.

they are utter shit products. I bought 3 of their "plus" products, and neither worked as advertised in my pellet smoker. The blocks couldn't "see" the sensors except for when the smoker was open. what's the point of these things if you can't use them with the smoker closed?

I have a Meater Plus and haven't had any issues, and mine gets used regularly. I get roughly 50 yards range before I have app connection issues. The battery has never died on me for even large brisket.

I’m not a fan of the type of thermometer like the Meater Plus as,afaik, the probe’s battery is not user replaceable and I wouldn’t want to buy an expensive probe that will only, potentially, last a few years before the battery

I love my meater plus, I'm not on the cloud, just extended bluetooth

As the single meater plus has limited range so your phone needs to be within 10 meters or so for signal not to drop. Once back in range you can see all your cooking stats again, you don’t loose anything.

I use a MEATER Plus. Used it for about 6-8 months no issues. First time on a brisket though and it was solid.

The meater plus is a great concept with mediocre execution (fairly easy to kill it by overheating if you’re not careful), and awful customer service (took me 2 weeks to get a response from them).

I have a Meater plus and it's fantastic in the oven. I wouldn't use it in a bbq or smoker.

I got a meater plus recently and it’s really nice , though the estimated cook times are awful Other than that works well just clean the charging end well

I bought the Meater Plus from all the ads on facebook. I started watching reviews after I bought it. Found out it took a battery. I didn't like that

I have a Meater plus and it’s solid, except the cooking times are absolutely terrible. The temp seems to be reasonably on though so overall it’s decent.

Meater plus owner here too. I’m a fan, can monitor the cook from my Apple Watch. It’s done a great job so far. Rib eye, Tomahawks, Brisket, Salmon. So long as your cooks are low and slow/smoking, it’s good.

I love/loved mine but lately it's been overshooting Temps - not telling me to pull on time. That was the most impressive thing about the early days. For the record, I've not worn out the old one and I have a brand new meater plus that's doing it too.
