In owners' own words

On the Katana, the 'lead' channel is too fizzy.

Sounded digital without much punch at all which was a surprise as I expected so much more

i find the hybrids sound much closer to "real" amps then the Boss

Gave up with mine, too complicated for a non geek.

I have tried both the Mk1 and Mk2 50's in store and we did not get along.

Gets thin, sometimes disappears in the mix.

It's almost TOO fizzy/gainy and hollow.

I had similar issue with my Katana 50mkII. When I switched to a Marshall20DSLHr+Cabinet, and all was much better

Boss katana is crap. Sucks ass hard

It does suck a little IMO. I got one to mess around with but it's super shrill compared to my other amps

I tried a friend's Boss Katana MkII and really struggled to get a sound I liked. It always felt too transistor like.

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

50MKII is super bright, totally the opposite of muffled. Most of the time I try to boost lower frequencies in EQ to make it sound more bottom.

There’s really no difference between the plain 50mkII and the artist MKII. As long as you have tone studio the only thing you’re really paying for is the Waza speaker
Steel457 on Reddit
Generally, there is a big difference with the stock amp presets but to me, it made a noticeable improvement after I spent some time balancing the gain.
PedrotheDuck on Reddit
The 100w can play as loud the 50. It got a power limiter from 0.5w to 100w and an headphone plug. Moreover the 50w don't have the same speaker, the 100w is more round sounding.

YES. Use alternate mode though. The default sounds like crap in comparison.
