my bettas like to let them selves get sucked up to the intake grids/ slats… which shredded my halfmoon male betta’s fins in one of the Fluval flex 9 gallons
DynaSGchic on Reddit
I wish I'd just gone with a 10 long. The "flex" is such a gimmick, but the built in filtration system is okay I guess

This thing is a death trap in disguise and it took me a year to figure that out.

I feel the negatives outweigh the positives especially at this price point

Mines stopped working all of a sudden

it’s too much for my betta
@kolitaa7686 on YouTube
After running a fluval flex 9 for 6 months I can say from my experiance that it was cursed. The first one I received was broken in the box. The glass is very thin on them. About three months in, only the white portion of the leds worked
Fishbuds on The Planted Tank Forum
The tank is small enough that really any coral could be in danger if it moves or if the current hits it right.

the light doesn't remember its settings when paired with a timer

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

The only note is that the filter output is strong and you may need to fiddle with it to make it more comfortable for the Betta.

I was using a specialized curved glass scraper. . . and It did not work very well!
MoshJosh on Reef2Reef
It's difficult to find unobtrusive equipment that fits in the 2" AIO chambers
rdirtytwo on Reef2Reef
I use the flipper and it works to some extent - takes a few swipes however.
RaymondL on Reef2Reef
I have a fluval 9G flex (the bow front type) AIO.
DragonStone on Reef2Reef
I have to say that so far I'm not pleased with the lights after adding water which are causing a reflection off the back panel.
travellife on The Planted Tank Forum
I glued that with silicone next to the original and so have double the light. It's still not much.
dmastin on The Planted Tank Forum
you'll probably want to block the filter intakes with sponge or a screen so shrimplets don't get in there
