I don't think there is a reel that would replace my Shimano's

I tend to backlash every once in a while on my Tatula 300 since the spool isn't tuned for braid. I lost a $60 dollar glide bait over the weekend from a very bad backlash.

I have 2 Piscifun Torrents, which in all honesty, I don't use every time I go out, but I like them better than the Daiwa Tatula I had for a season.

I used to run a daiwa tatula but with the dial on the side it would constantly move when i would cast or reel in a fish.

That being said I hated my Daiwa tatula. I preferred the Lews that I had so I usually only buy shimano or lews reels.

I have a Daiwa Tatula that’s basically just a paperweight now, I’ll never make that mistake again.

the money you spent on all 3 Tatula MQ, what kind of reel could you have gotten instead

i have one, and had to stop using it cause when i would cast it would snap the line.

The Tatula, which costs almost twice as much the LFS, barely performs better.

I like them far far more than my daiwa tatula

i tried the daiwa tatula ct 165$ reel, it was the first reel i liked. Used it for 1 summer, then it sounded awful. Traded it in, and spent extra money to get the curado 200 M. havent had an issue with that so far. I also ended picking up a 2023 tatula 100 love that thing. No crappy sounds coming from it so far like the ct.

Me personally I prefer the original Tatula or the Tatula elite. I hate the SV series as it seems to rob me of a lot of distance on my cast and or require more effort to get the same distance.

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

The Daiwa has magnetic brakes and all the adjustments are done externally. For some people this is a deal breaker. I don't mind opening a side plate, but some people hate having to do so.

Just picked up my first baitcatser and went with the Daiwa Tatula. I only birdnested due to not knowing to adjust the tensioner for the spool. As long as your side casting and quick to thumb it before smacking the water you’ll be a natural

My Revo does exactly everything my Tatula does and equally as well in every aspect that matters....for half the price.

the daiwa tatula 150 actually holds less line then something like a lews classic pro
