Most common complaints

In owners' own words

I was using a good grinder (Baratza Virtuoso).
randomroyalty on Reddit
I can't tell a big difference, if a difference at all.
CaffeinatedDiabetic on Reddit
originally i got the Baratza Virtuoso+ but it wouldnt grind fine enough. I tried to mod it and make the burrs closder and ended up breaking the thing.
ICE_MF_Mike on Reddit
The Baratza Virtuoso is not prosumer quality in terms of build quality and durability, and it's not even remotely close to a commercial quality grinder. It's just a cheap switch.
swroasting on Reddit
I felt it was a significant upgrade from my Baratza virtuoso several years ago.
choroidalfusion on Reddit
My Baratza Virtuoso has finally shit the bed, I think. I’ve changed burrs numerous times, but it just won’t grind fine enough for espresso anymore.
CallThatGoing on Reddit
I started on a Baratza Virtuoso+ but kept getting a ton of stalling and got to talk to their support… then I got a Comandante C40, Fellow Ode gen2 and a Wilfa Uniform
mrobot_ on Reddit
Lower end grinders, in my case a Baratza Virtuoso, don’t provide fluffy clumpless grounds without help.

And they both have lousy lids.
@MarkMphonoman on YouTube
Just got a baratza virtuoso, but feel like the grind is super inconsistent.
Boiled_MilkSteak on Reddit
It creates some really consistent cups of espresso and creates a much better cup on the Aeropress than my Baratza Virtuoso.
drj5k on Reddit
Wrapped a massive bath towel around my baratza virtuoso whwn my kids were babies. Softened the noise a little bit but I gave up and started grinding the night before

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

I own a Baratza Virtuoso and an Aergrind, I'd say my JX Pro outperforms both.
Highdefhunty on Reddit
I kept my Baratza Virtuoso for non espresso and bought a 1Zpresso J-max.
DaBakerBoi on Reddit
It produces less fines than the Virtuoso at comparable grind settings, and although the JX has more precise adjustments, the C2 just feels so much easier to turn the handle on.
AssaultFlamingo on Reddit
But was a great upgrade from baratza virtuoso+ for me
a_lurker_MD on Reddit
I went a little crazy when I was buying my setup and went with a baratza virtuoso+. Way more than I needed.
cjsv7657 on Reddit
Baratza Virtuoso, slightly less good but electric.
redsunstar on Reddit
the jx replaced the baratza virtuoso which has worn out burrs and not willing to replace them on my own, it was going to cost almost as much as a new virtuoso to send it back to baratza.
Ggusta on Reddit
found the cup to be completely different from when I had ground using a Baratza Virtuoso — softer, without any harshness. There was also a subtle sweetness I hadn’t noticed before. Overall more balanced.
