I bought a DF64 Gen 2 because of all the hype, and as soon as it arrived I recognized all the hallmarks of cheap Chinese "chabuduo" engineering. The burrs and grind quality are great but the grinder is really poorly built, and I got rid of it faster than any other piece of coffee equipment I've ever purchased.

My white DF64 gen 2 is going back. I get the same flavor as my Breville Barista Touch.

I used to have this problem (with df64 gen 2) until I got a ZP6. I grind a LOT finer than I was with the DF64 but getting really sweet cups that aren't astringent at all.

I have the DF64 gen 2 with SSP MP for espresso and it is terrible sound wise. I have sensible ears, but I need to have earplugs every time I start grinding with the DF64, shrieeeking sound.

i also noticed the 2 screws that go up top that you should remove to take the grinder apart were missing as well its a df64 gen 2

I got DF64 Gen 2 for my friend from Singapore and I broke my luggage because it was too heavy. REAL STORY. And he faced issue with the grinder but now there is no way to return, exchange of service it.

the purchase that comes closest would be the DF64 Gen 2. Not because it’s a bad grinder but because I ignored my preferences when making the purchase.

I’ve had no luck whatsoever with dialing in the DF64 gen 2 for filter. I always use the same recipe where brew times are around 3:00, 3:30. 30 grams of coffee with 500 grams of water making it a double cup.

I just had to return a severely defective df64 gen 2. I was charged $22 return shipping and 15% restocking fee. I couldn't believe it because I had tons of videos of it clogging, burrs wobblings, and other issues.
Swanky_Gear_Snob on Reddit
I have a DF64 gen 2 that is supposed to have low retention. It doesn't. I bought a small brush at dollarama and notice a lot gets stuck behind the ionizer, and I don't know when it will fall out and affect my shot.

I just had to return a df64 gen 2 with horrible qc issues. They charged me $22 shipping and a 15% restocking fee even though it was so out of alignment. It was also clogging non stop.
BeGoneBaizuo on Reddit
Gen 2 is definitely better than Gen 1. It still clogs , clumps. And has static issues.  It doesn't matter that it's generation 2. It still has the same issues as generation 1.

I have a DF64 gen 2 grinder. Previously I was using dark roast beans but they were a bag of lavazza I got online, so definitely not the freshest.
NYKyle610 on Reddit
I got my new DF64 Gen 2 three days ago and have been seasoning it with close to 2kg now, the buildup you are mentioning is from the popcoring happening as the beans are hitting the spinning burrs.
Mankus on Reddit
Only recently I have "upgraded" to a bottomless portafilter, IMS basket, df64 gen 2 grinder. I never realized coffee could taste so bad.
P4tukas on Reddit
I did this often, too, with DF64 Gen 2. It was fine after purging with a gram or two, but now that I've dedicated that grinder to espresso only, it's more consistent, and the workflow is much better.
jonneoranssi on Reddit
I got a DF64 Gen 2 and I'm so worried about the burr alignment... I looked up online and it seems like an absolute pain in the ass to align it I'm just going to grind and pray it's aligned correctly....

I have a batista pro and upgraded my grinder to the df64 gen 2 as well. I bought an 18-22g ims basket and bottomless portafilter for it.
BurlyGingerMan on Reddit
I am arguably grinding too fine on df64 gen 2 which may be why I'm not helping the Ethiopian beans and their fines with the clogging, however the brew tastes good
AntSchmitt on Reddit
I have a DF64 Gen 2 with SSP cast sweet lab v2 burrs. I started off around 70 when the grinder was new, but I’ve had to gradually lower the setting as the burrs have seasoned.
