YETI Roadie 48 Wheeled Cooler

Based on 10 comments across 1 community
TL;DR
The Roadie 48 earns real praise for its ice retention and one-person rolling, and owners who do mostly car-accessible trips tend to be happy with it. But it is a heavy, premium cooler that some reach for only on longer outings, and the wheels lose their value on soft sand. Whether it is worth the price comes down to how often you actually need to roll a big cooler.

The smaller ones use the retractable telescoping handles. All of them regardless of the brand are terrible IMO (especially for beach use).

I just bought the roadie 60 for similar trips but with 3. Note on the yosemite page the second bear boxes do fit the cooler but the smaller boxes which are less common do not.

if you do decide to go with the haul, I’d personally recommend just getting a roadie 48 or 60. It definitely comes down to preference but I think the roadie is easier and more comfortable to roll around. The 48 is a little bit smaller then the haul but the same price while the 60 is a little bit larger and $50 more expensive. I also prefer the latches on the

I bought the roadie 60 for the beach. Unimpressed.

Love mine. Keep one in the back of my wife’s van and it definitely holds ice for at least a week. It’s good for trips to just grab a water or drink out of instead of going into store

I still find i use the small light old cooler for more things than the yeti and the roadie 48 collects dust until I'm leaving for more than just an overnight.

Anyplace you can drive your car, you can use the wheels on your yeti. Otherwise, you just have to carry it. You can drive your car on Daytona Beach, so you can roll your yeti there. Deep sand does not work. Hard packed ground is great!

I think the Roadie will do better with a longer handle. I use my coolers for boating a lot and I like the idea of the boat bag sitting on top of the roadie while I wheel it down the dock. Almost like laptop bags on top of a wheeled carryon bag.

I have a red Roadie 48 and just measured it for you. Here's what I found: Front to Back: 11-1/8 inches Side to Side, Excluding the wheel area: 12-1/8 inches Side to Side, Including the wheel area: 14-1/8 inches Looks like the wheel area takes up about 1 inch on either side.

I’m confident drinks and fruit would be just fine multiple days.
