Oura Ring 5

Scored on 39 verified owner verdicts, from 1,568 comments read across 4 communities
TL;DR
These are early, first-impression owners of the new Oura Ring 5, and most are won over by how thin, light and comfortable it is compared to the gen 4, with many forgetting they even have it on. The recurring gripes are sizing that runs different from the sizing kit, a deep rose color that reads more bronze than the marketing photos, weak workout and high-heart-rate tracking, and some early software bugs. It suits someone wanting a comfortable, passive sleep-and-recovery tracker rather than a dedicated workout device.

62% of 39 verified owners recommend the Oura Ring 5, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

Who it's for
A great fit if
  • Health-conscious people wanting passive sleep and recovery data
  • Oura 4 owners wanting a thinner, more comfortable ring
  • Those who want a tracker that feels like regular jewelry
  • People who dislike wearing a watch all day
Look elsewhere if

My one reservation after two days is the index finger placement. It is the finger Oura recommended for years, but it catches on things more than I expected during the day.

The form, thinner and smaller size is a huge reason why I upgraded and I love it.

I do not recommend this ring

I went from Oura 3 to 5 and it’s amazing.

I won't be buying again!

It just isn't the best for data *during* workouts so I augment it (just during workouts) with the Apple Watch

YouTube▲ recommend

I definitely like the smaller size and am getting 8 days battery life. Early days but it seems pretty scratch resistant.

I agree the bigger size looks better

I've even found it comfortable during weightlifting and rowing, two activities that usually have me removing my rings entirely.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I dont like how small it is, its kinda weird, like the height of it. I wish it was the same height of the 4th but with the thinness of the 5

I just got the new one and I’ve been pretty impressed with it when I’ve worn it running. It’s not that far off from my garmin

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

I’m really disappointed. I currently have an Oura Ring 4 in size 14, and I’ve just received the sizing kit for the Ring 5. Unfortunately, even the size 13 is too small, which means I won’t be able to buy the new version.

TechCrunch▲ recommend

After five days of continuous wear, I still haven't needed to charge it, and I'm down to about 25% battery.

I was hardly conscious of wearing the 3rd-gen ring, but the 5th-gen is almost impossible to feel.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

OURA is not a workout tracker. You need a different device like an Apple Watch, Whoop, Garmin, etc. if you want to actively track workouts

Reddit▲ recommend

The 8 slides right over my knuckle with just enough room and still feels nice on the finger

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Too tight. But might be better as their sensors are very bad at measuring when loose and when the ring turns…

Reddit▲ recommend

I had the 4 since it came out ~18 months ago and just got the 5. I’m thrilled I upgraded.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

I’m returning the 5. Sizing doesn’t work for me and I also don’t think it looks as good as the 4.

Reddit▲ recommend

5 feels a bit more snug because it’s just a better, more ergonomic fit, at least for me.

7 fits absolutely fine on my index finger and the other hand middle finger. IMO sizing kit was more snug than the actual ring.

Redditⓘ good to know

i ordered a 7 and found it the same snugness as the sizing kit (too snug for me) so im going with the 8

Redditⓘ good to know

I just got the gen 5 size 9 and it definitely feels looser than the size 9 in the sizing kit.

Redditⓘ good to know

I finally got my 5 and you’re right, it is a little looser than the sizing kit for sure.

Redditⓘ good to know

The 9 was same fit as sizer unfortunately and too tight most of the day.

Redditⓘ good to know

I just received the ring and it looks like I have to size down to an 8

Redditⓘ good to know

i got the ring. to me, it actually fits the same as the sizer :)

Redditⓘ good to know

I do think that the gen 5 is a bit smaller ring size wise.

Redditⓘ good to know

Feels like 8 in real life is tighter then the sizing ring

Redditⓘ good to know

Redditⓘ good to know

So far it seems exactly the same!
