Most common complaints

In owners' own words

I have the Pd36R Pro and find it useless for camping. Mode memory is not what I prefer as I never know what level it will come on at.

I just got a Fenix PD36R Pro. Very unimpressed for $120.00. Returned it today. Waiting for my SK40 to be delivered tomorrow!!

the bad thing is the Fenix warranty; they told me to send a message, and that the cost of shipping and the repair would be entirely mine

I detest any light with a flexible rubber charging port cover such as this one. There's no way it will last the way I would use it...

Another Fenix light with marketing specs & a less than good UI. Good light .. yes, but .. & lately there have been to many of those. I'm not getting rid of any of my Fenix lights but I haven't seen a new one I'd buy either, including this one

Mostly tint lottery and most likely to lose that draw with modern Fenix lights IMO. I've skipped most of their current models due to this, the one I kept (Older model) is only tolerable on high or turbo so lower modes are useless to me being sickly green.

personally not a Fenix fan. Was that light 110$? Have you thought about other brands and looking for a universal holster? Other than that other users have reported Fenix requiring customers pay for shipping but doing repairs/replacement for free and paying for shipping back. Good luck.

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

On my fenix pd36r pro sft40 tint is green too. On high and turbo everything is okay. But on other fenix with this emitter tint is ok.

It's a bit to big for the pocket imo.

Fits fine in a jeans pocket. Like not unnoticeable but really isn’t that much drama. Wouldn’t routinely carry one unless I know I need a decent amount of light and long runtimes.

Another significant difference is that the thermal protection is much more aggressive on the Fenix - turbo mode doesn’t last very long before kicking down to high to reduce heat.
Length of it is what keeps it out of my EDC range. I have an imaginary cap of about 4.5 inches. Maybe if I modify how I carry my flashlights, then perhaps I could open it up to dimensions outside of what I have currently.

its more throwy hotspot will be more useful if you've got some distance between you and the structure of the surface you're looking at

bit large for edc, I own the previous model and the uc35, I am finding most 21700 lights too large for both flashlights and headlamps, went back to 18650, only time i pull the 21700 is when I need runtime and don't want to carry a battery.

I feel as though the light could be condensed by another inch without such a deep reflector.
