In owners' own words

I really like the OXO but it died within a year, twice.

it just stopped working—turning the dial works, but pressing it does not, and fixing it is beyond my skills
swwws on Reddit
they arent because they redesigned the model completely and now it has serious failure and other issues

is anyone’s knob really sticky? In the sense it takes a lot of effort to increase the degrees?

The handle snapped off the kettle the other day. Oxo said they can't replace.

one could assume that there are more warranty issues with the OXO

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

I actually have been looking at an OXO one, but has been sold out for a while. A lot of coffee subs/blogs have great reviews of kettles as well if you have some others in mind.

Regarding the metric marks, why not just use a measuring cup to fill up the kettle? Then the OXO fits the bill. Also just out of curiosity, how would you use the custom temperature settings?

Yeah. I stay under the max fill. If I’m pouring fast to fill up a v60 then it’ll drip out....maybe it’s just mine! I’ll be in touch with oxo Thanks for the help

This one was on my short list as well. I will say that build quality is a factor for me. The Bonavita does have a bit of a chincy feel to it and from what I have read the Oxo seems more robust. The EKG as well, of course.

Control of keeping it below a full boil will however likely limit the risk of it boiling dry during that 30 minute "keep at temp" window.

I know this is really old, but I thought I would let you know that the gooseneck kettle is back in stock! I just received mine this morning. I got mine from the manufacturer: https://www.oxo.com/adjustable-temperature-pour-over-kettle.html

“Dear OXO, I cannot believe that my kettle has stopped working after a MERE 8 years of daily use…”
Blake-Dreary on Reddit
not at all, but I don't tend to fill it much (usually just a hair more than halfway) so perhaps that's why. I don't have it in front of me, but i'm pretty sure theres a "1L" line in it -- are you filling past that? I think that's considered "max fill" for the model.
