ghd Helios

Based on 53 comments across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners consistently call the Helios powerful and fast, drying even thick, long hair in 10-15 minutes and leaving it smooth and salon-like, often citing it as a cheaper alternative to a Dyson. The complaints that come up most are weight (it's close to two pounds and tires some people's arms) and price, with several also finding it loud and hot. Owners with fine or thin hair warn the airflow can be too strong, blasting hair frizzy or leaving no time to style.

83% of 53 verified owners recommend the ghd Helios.

I have a GHD Helios and it's now too strong for my thin hair, it was causing tugs ans snapping. I've had to swap to the one we use to blow dry the dog

My favourite thing I've bought recently is probably my GHD helios hair dryer. It was expensive but compared to my previous revlon hair dryer it is significantly, noticeably better and has way more control.

why I didn't choose it myself is because it's quite heavy at almost 2 pounds and it has a very thin concentrator (that last point could be a plus for you depending on your hair type). It's a very powerful hair dryer and if it's speed you're after it's worth considering. If you have fragile hair it might be too strong.

I find the Helios to be amazing but on the heavier side.

I've only used it once and I loc eit already! My hair feels like after going to a salon.

It dried my hair twice as quickly as my $250 GHD Helios and my hair was much smoother. I was shooketh. I’ve realised power isn’t always a good thing. My $250 GHD just blasts my fine hair around and makes it frizzy 😭

The GHD Helios is a good option! I've been using it for a while (because the salon owner insisted), but since the buttons are positioned differently from what I'm used to, it's been a bit tricky. All the blow dryers I used before had the buttons on the bottom of the handle, but this GHD has them on the upper side.

Recently bought the GHD Helios and cannot get on with it, I think it's just too powerful. Dries my hair really quickly (even on the lowest setting) with no time to style

So far it feels lightweight and powerful but I will update back when I actually dry my hair.

Pretty much of a muchness to me. Helios has more temperature and speed options.

It felt heavy and awkward in comparison and was extremely noisy. I sent it back for a refund after using it once.

I recently purchased the GHD Helios and love it! I also have fine, thin hair and feel this dryer is a game changer. I use it on 2nd temperature option and 1st power option.

GHD Helios made my hair soooo flat everytime I would use it. I hated it!

The GHD is amazing, I can dry my hair in 10 minutes. It's pricey but not as much as Shark/Dyson. I workout in the evenings and love my sleep, this hairdryer has changed my life!

I love my GHD helios hairdryer. It’s heavy but really good at drying my ridiculously thick hair.

I have the GHD Helios which is on the more expensive side but not Dyson expensive. I can dry my hair in 15min where as my last hairdryer took 30 mins (compared to around 4+ hours to air dry)

I have a GHD helios that I’m in love with and it’s 279

to replace my dyson i’ve been using the GHD Helios & while it is pretty loud & semi heavy it gets super hot, dries very fast & smooths the hair beautifully.

I did use the GHD dryer once on vacation and it did a great job getting moisture out in humid conditions - it was super powerful and I know it would be effective.

Currently I use GHD Helios, and I have had it for about a year and absolutely love it. Just as powerful as the Elchim (although a bit louder), but it's much more lightweight. Would highly recommend.

I have hair that is very long and thick, but it takes about ten minutes to blow dry if I use the Shu Uemura blow dry spray and my ghd helios hair dryer.
