TL;DR
Owners rate the Kamasu as about as much watch as anyone can get for around $300, and the ones who also own costlier pieces say it keeps earning wrist time anyway. It takes abuse well: owners swim, cycle, and work in it and report it running fine years later. The stock bracelet is the sticking point, with hollow end links, a rattle, and a stamped clasp, and enough owners replace it that the swap reads as part of the purchase. The colored aluminum bezel insert also marks up quickly, and timekeeping reports scatter from a few seconds a day to roughly thirty.
80% of 83 verified owners recommend the Kamasu, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

“I have the Kamasu too and the bezel is beyond terrible. Most of the time it absolutely will not turn, it sticks and seizes. The bracelet is bad as well, though not at a terrible level, just a normally bad bracelet. (Translated from Turkish)”

“Loved mine, ended up giving it to a buddy who loved it more! That red dial is just so good! This watch and the BB58 Burgundy are easily my favorite red dial watches that I know of.”

“I own the kamasu, however for a daily perhaps I'd take the mako, also scrathes in the uncoloured aluminium bezel won't stand out as much as they do in the kamasu with a coloured aluminium bezel.”

“I bought the same watch in the A101 sale, and while I agree with what you said, the color of this dial is killing me. The rotor is quite audible, but personally not to the point of being a problem. (Translated from Turkish)”

“I may be a little biased for the Kamasu given that I own two (the red and the teal ones) but I chose them for the reasons I mentioned above and I'm honestly really happy with them.”

“I wrote my comment because the quality it offers falls short, especially considering how high its price is in Turkey. In my opinion, anyone thinking of buying it as their first watch should not buy it without trying it in person. (Translated from Azerbaijani)”

“That’s my thought as well, and, if I’m honest with myself I’d rather they cheaped out on the bracelet as opposed to the watch. The watch itself I think is fantastic for sub $300.”

“I got a green one and the very first day I got a gnarly scratch on the bezel hahah. Only ceramic inserts from here on out for me.”

“I also thought the bezel was a bit stiff but it's also my first diver so I assumed this is for a good reason. I don't really mind it anyway.”

“I love the watches, but hate the original bracelets on both for the same 3 reasons: Hollow end-links, which causes rattling. Clasp is pressed, not milled. The bracelet links are faking 3-piece links and are in fact 1-piece links with grooves.”

“The Kamasu has a value for price ratio very good. It is a wery good watch i have both the 40mm and the 42mm variants. And I love them both. I highly recommend to boy it.”

“I’ve owned 3 kamasus now, red, blue, and black each time I’ve found something I didn’t like. Enough to make me move on.”

“For the price definitely, hard to find a more solidly built diver for less. A lot of people don't like the bracelet for some reason but I've never had a problem with it.”

“The biggest downside for me is the glossy crystal. I use the Kamasu/Mako Ray III, and because the crystal is glossy I sometimes cannot read the watch. (Translated from Turkish)”

“It's funny, I bought a Mako 3 recently, and my bezel spins easily. I actually like how substantial the links on my bracelet feel, but the clasp is obviously just stamped stainless sheet. I guess for sub-$300, I didn't expect much more than that.”

“I have two versions of the Seiko and the red version of the orient. My Seiko gets more wear. But I love them all”

“This is my second automatic watch and I do not think it is as good as it is made out to be. Overall I think the perceived quality of the watch is low, but you would only notice that if you have a higher-quality watch. I have a higher-quality Citizen automatic and that one bothers me too. “I’ve had the red one for about a year (you’re going to want that one too, lol) and it‘s really so good that it does kill some of the luster of “higher end” stuff for me.”

“The green Kamasu was my first watch, and even though I’ve since acquired pieces that are x15 the price, it still gets wrist time and is on my wrist as I’m typing this.”

“If you're looking for a watch that will hold you well 10+ years down the line, then the Seiko 5 without question. I have both of these watches, the bracelets are atrocious on both but it's easier to find a high quality bracelet that will last forever on the Seiko than it is to find one for the Orient watch.”

“I have zero experience with anything better but can agree it is not the easiest to screw down.”

“I've been using one as a work watch for ~3 months. Picked it mostly because I couldn't find a seiko with sapphire in this price range. It's loud and feels less premium than a Seiko 5 at the same price. It loses ~30 seconds a day. The bezel marker doesnt align with 12 o'clock marker in either of the 2 closest positions. Perfectly mid imo”

“That's unfortunate to hear, honest love mine , it's accurate only loses 10 sec a day and everything lines up fine and it's been running strong for the past 4 years”

“As I wear mine even when sleeping, the extra power of the lume is nice to have. If you want to get it wet often, here's a thing: recently my bezel insert double tape failed at the pool (fortunately one of my friends found it on the bottom of the pool, so I could fit it back with some strong epoxy glue).”
