That joint is a huge weak point in my opinion.

I'm more upset by the pads being proprietary

My headband on my DT-700 Pro X fell apart too.

I just had these and returned them. Too sibilant. Those Ss and Ts were killing me.

Tried using my DT900 Pro X on a train ride to school, never gonna do it again, can literally hear everything except the music.

I got it, and is was such a dissapointment 🥵 It sounds like a close headphone. No soundstage at all. Returned it back 🤷🏻‍♂️

My experience with owning beyerdynamic dt 900 pro x The headband pleather came off in few months, real pathetic quality I would say
AnnoyingPenny89 on Reddit
I don't like them. They sound hollow and empty. I've tried messing with my DAC. And APO EQ and they just don't have any bottom to them at all.
Cotybear on Reddit
there's the Dt900 Pro X at $270, however I didn't like the clamping force and I tolerated the HD58x's break in, nor did I enjoy the sound profile
Apprehensive-Ice9809 on Reddit
bought the DT900 Pro X open back headphones, but even with the bass boost on in EQ, the bass was too weak and didn't create as full or immersive a sound as I wanted

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

I use Beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X, the sound is very crisp and the high frequencies makes you take constant rests from long listening sessions
pizzaplayboy on Reddit
I also own Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X headphones which are pretty flat overall (almost slightly bright)
CompetitiveString374 on Reddit
The Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X is heavier on the ears and only seems half-open
ruthard_hitman_hart on Reddit
The DT 900 Pro X is a warmer and darker sound than the DT 990 Pro X.

I had never had open backs before getting mine, and I was worried about it as well. After having had them for a bit now and having a family member listen to stuff so I can hear from a different perspective, it's not really strong, but it's noticeable. Lower volumes it's much less noticeable.
