DeWalt DCD800 20V MAX XR Drill

Based on 15 comments across 1 community
TL;DR
Owners love the DCD800 as a compact, lightweight drill that delivers surprising power and torque for its size, backed by a solid metal chuck and a genuinely useful LED light. It's a dependable everyday driver that most reach for first. The main caveat is simply what it isn't: a drill/driver with no hammer function for masonry, so owners needing that step up to the 805, and very heavy tasks benefit from a larger battery.

87% of 15 verified owners recommend the DeWalt DCD800 20V MAX XR Drill.

I did this video a while back, but you can see the 701 barely had the torque to drive a lag (easier than a forstner bit) whereas the 800 just crushed it

I’ve used DCD800, a DeWalt 20V MAX XR drill, with auger bits for 3/4”-7/8” holes in top plates. It did fine. Just need a bigger battery.

The drill I bought (dcd800) and the 891 impact both feel kind of cheap. The triggers and the directions switch feel pretty awful. And I noticed the direction switch on the floor. Models at Home Depot is worn out and doesn’t work anymore. But the actual power performance of the tools is pretty fantastic.

I recently got the new DCD800 Compact Drill/Driver and love it. Light weight and compact, but has more than enough power. Highly recommend it.

I use a cordless drill the most, and dewalt has the one I like the most (DCD800 with powerstack batts), so that';s the way I went.

I have the dcd800 and 805 and both are fantastic super compact but extremely capable

I upgraded to the DCD800 which I absolutely love.

Discontinued model that’s actually better than its replacement. These will be out of stock everywhere soon. It’s an awesome drill, I got one last week from Home Depot, i bought the last 2 I could find anywhere in my entire state.

The 800 is a fantastic choice a little shorter then its hammer drill brethren the 805. It's there latest and greatest compact drill. She is very stout and has some good heft to it. If I was in the market for a drill that would be what I go for.

The 800 for light projects and the 1007 for where beeefcaaake or the hammer drill function is needed.

This is one I got during the glitch and it's always my go to. The light alone is worth it I think.

Dcd800 will do almost anything a homeowner asks. I have one and can fully vouch!

Currently for what I need, I feel like the 800 will be perfect for me.

The DCD800 is an awesome drill. Plenty of power for how small it is.
