In owners' own words

It hasn’t been as reliable as my old August Pro + Connect. It’s been disconnecting from Wi-Fi frequently and the original batteries had gone completely flat in less than 2 months.
yea its a bit of a mess. I tried setting up the gen 3 Pro with both an iphone and ipad pro, neither worked better than the other (homekit didnt work).

The august hits most of those ticks but I already got burned on them with how bad the auto unlock worked.

I just can’t recommend them anymore and I’m actively shopping for a replacement
Gmania27 on Reddit
the app just keeps “loading/thinking” and I never get the final confirmation

I think that the Wifi version was just a bridge too far for the technology.

Even without this issue, their software has always been problematic for me.

I had it for a few years and it's horrible. doesn't work half the times

The lock and its battery are dead more often than they’re working.
Majestic-Sail1825 on Reddit
It's criminal that this lock is still sold based on my experience.

skip the August, cloud dependent and battery life is rough.

I thought I was just unlucky with the bridge! I had to have it within about 5 feet of the lock and facing it with direct line of sight otherwise it would flake out!

A mortise lock doesn't have mounting holes for a deadbolt, you have 2 options there : you can use double sided tape to stick the lock mounting plate to the decorative lock plate (the stronger the better ) .

I'd be very interested in details. I've got an Emtek mortise lock w/3" thick door, making standard automation difficult, short of replacing the door.

I connected a new August Wi-Fi Smart Lock (4th Generation) to Home Assistant today. It is working fine, but it thinks the batter level is -100%.
didnt realize August is under Assa Abloy. so its kinda more about design + ecosystem rather than completely different hardware then?

I have the same issue. Bottom lock I want to be able to use the August Pro Smart Lock and I’m willing to change the Mortise lock to a better one if needed. I just don’t know which one would work best with the August Pro Please help!
chocotheboss on Reddit
This happens when app switches between wifi and bluetooth. Never resolved. You nedd to restart app to be able to access lock.

That’s really disappointing..shoot. I was really looking forward to upgrading my 2 August locks. Now I’m not so sure it’s worth it. The updates hardware sure does look slick though
