I enjoy fishing my BG but if it had even slightly better sealing it's would be the best $100 reel ever

I was casting with a BG3000 for like 4 hours yesterday and definitely feel it.

I first got the BG3000 and found it to be very convenient but also very limiting when fishing in rocky conditions. A few bad snags and youll have to re-spool.

I got Daiwa BG 3000 for steelhead fishing and like it a lot - it is built like a tank.

Bgs sounds terrible

I bought a BG, and it doesnt spool on the line evenly. Much more line at the top of spool than the bottom, which makes it so i cant even get half a spool of line on there. Will never buy another bg

It is a very quality & strong all rounder reel

the bg is definitely a lot heavier/less smooth, but its also half the price

I have it paired with a bg3000. I feel it’s good for calm beach days, piers, inlets, and boats. My do it all combo really

StripersOnline▼ don’t recommend

I still use the reel for albies but bring along a backup as I don't have a lot of faith in the model due to its performance while shore fishing for albies.

I picked up a 3000 BG a couple of years ago

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

several BG 3000 and 4000 reels developed looseness at the main gear/handle connection despite good bearings and gear teeth

I picked up a Daiwa BG 3000 which run under $100 and its super nice. Smooth and long casting.

The Hull Truth▼ don’t recommend

One of the reels was not as smooth and I keep spinning it to see if I am imagining things or if the reel is hanging up. After a few more spins the spool stops oscillating up and down. So just like that, I have a brand new reel that is broken.

Daiwa BG 3000 with 15lb power pro braid is a great universal setup for rivers and lakes. I have mine on a 7 foot medium heavy Veritas rod. Nothing super crazy, but great for fresh and salt water.

YouTube▼ don’t recommend

in my case it turned out that the drive gear somehow separated and the axle is spinning freely

Reddit▲ recommend

I have caught many high 40's low 50's stripers on them and they have been fine, drag is more than enough and I have never blown one up.

found one of these in the trash looks new but the reverse wouldn’t lock out

I bought the daiwa bg 3000. Love it you cannot beat it for the price. Everything you read you'll see its comparable or better to reels of a higher price. It is super smooth. Feels smoother and more durable then the penn battle 2 by far.

my reel does not got up and down sometimes

Reddit▲ recommend

That BG is extremely versatile for salt and fresh water so you should have no issues. They cast a mile

The BG reels are solid performers, I have 7 of them from 2500 up to 6500 sizes.
