Returned them all and went back to Bose QC ultra. Technics included. Great audio. I didn't like the fit. ANC almost feels like it doesn't work at all.

I agree that default tuning is strange and muddy, especially if you get used to the neutral sounding, or at least to the neutral trebles, but you can achieve really good sound with eq.

I like the sound better than Sony (I've also had bad experiences with Sony quality control Vs Panasonic so I'm more confident in my Technics)

Reddit— neutral

they are subpar for ANC imo. the noise cancelling on the sony C700N is better imo and i got those for 50 new. the sound quality on the technics are a lot better than the qc ultras tho IMO

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Thats what I thought as well. I've tried it on my S25U, my cousins 16 pro max and my android tablet, and the volume just isn't as loud.

Reddit▲ recommend

anyone on the phone with me says they can't hear pretty much anything in the background and question if I'm working compared to the AZ80s mic

Reddit— neutral

Pros - excellent sound, excellent build quality, good head tracking. Cons - a little bulky, very sensitive head tracking, bad anc, music stutters when there is wind.

Reddit▲ recommend

With LDAC the latency is good enough I play CS2 on it every day and don't notice a latency difference between wired and wireless.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

But comfort is a deal breaker for me especially coming from the Jabra elite active 8's, which were the best earbuds I ever owned.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Unless I'm doing something wrong these aren't good for gaming. Audio delay between what's happening on the screen and audio cue.

Reddit▲ recommend

the az100 are superior in every way when it comes to sound quality, banging bass, clarity....... these buds are the nuts!!!!

Reddit— neutral

The Technics were slightly muddier and not quite as loud. Anc wasnt nearly as good either. However, they were Soooo comfortable, call quality was excellent

Reddit▲ recommend

Bought these on a whim last time they were around since I was tired of my other earbuds and I haven't regretted it at all.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

The 2024s are just more open, clarity is better, its less muddy and messy. AZ100s are somehow overwhelming, the sound is heavy.

Reddit— neutral

the AZ100 are the best sounding of those 4 (with the XM5 a close second), but i ultimately had to return them because they fell out of my ears too much.

Reddit— neutral

can’t help but find the Nothing’s to have an overall better clarity with these eq presets. Altough i still really like the signature of the technics

Reddit▲ recommend

I also really like the audio quality on these to the point to where I am considering buying a second pair at this price.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

My Beats fit Pro were better. I wanted to love them and every once in a while they showed promise. Ended up returning them.

Reddit— neutral

The earphones are great in every other way except the ear tips material is too slick in my ears and would slowly slide out no matter the size.

Reddit▲ recommend

I just think the Technics is tuned better. Both have their fans, I would personally go for the Technics over the Sony.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Their fit was fine, their ANC is c-tier (at best), and I could never get their sound signature to be what I liked.

Reddit— neutral

love the sound and would be ok with the pretty good/not great ANC, but the shape of the hard shell makes them absolutely painful to wear

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

The az100 feels very cheap especially the box. The magnets are weak and the plastic just feels cheap overhall.

Reddit▲ recommend

it’s great battery life (10-12 hours), call quality (truly amazing) and sound quality makes it a worthy investment.

Common problems & things to know

Practical notes owners raise — setup, quirks, and issues to watch for. They don't say whether the person likes the product, so they're not counted in the score, but they inform the pros, cons, and who it's for.

Redditⓘ good to know

Thanks a lot for all work you done. I was thinking of upgrading my Nothing Ear 2024 to AZ100. So I don’t see any reasons if ANC & Buss are your least points of interest (as minimum).

Redditⓘ good to know

Here's another: > This is one of the bigger generational leaps I've experienced while testing earbuds or headphones – the AZ100 are tangibly better than the AZ80 in every way.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have my AZLA SednaEarfit MAX Standard set from the PBP2s. I might try them on the AZ100, although I don't really mind the stock tips... Haven't worked out in them yet tho.

Redditⓘ good to know

If you tinker with your sound at all I'd probably steer you away from the Bose though since they only have a 3-band EQ in the app (unless you use a system-wide EQ app like Poweramp on mobile).

Redditⓘ good to know

Yes, you can have it on but I feel like the effect is weakened unless the music or audio is playing. And no, it does not pause music when someone talks to you, or it hasn't done that in my case

Redditⓘ good to know

I'm having a weird issue where sound is like coming into an out of focus with one earbud in, I don't know if it's my phone or what. It's hard to explain, it only seems to do it with one earbud in.

Redditⓘ good to know

man why no aptx support. LDAC dongles are basically non-existent for iphone users. the creative BT-W5 + Denon Perl Pro on aptx is damn near a miracle for iphone.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have the AZ80 and they’re amazing, if these are better then I feel like for $150 this is a good buy, tho admittedly I haven’t been tracking the price on these

Redditⓘ good to know

That doesn’t bother me, buuut high compression air hoses at my job……….it breaks the anc, but that happens to every bud just more so on the technics. It makes a Ccchhhhhhhkkkkkkkkccccchhhhhhh sound lol.

Redditⓘ good to know

Somehow my touch sensor operations stopped working, anyone having similar issue after firmware upgrade? Tried reset to default value Unpair and repair earbuds

Redditⓘ good to know

thanks for this detailed review! was debating which one to get and leaning more towards Technics but wasnt 100% on it, but this definitely cemented my choice

Question for users of the AZ100: I am a runner and want really good headphones for running. Will these stay in your ear while running or moving a lot? Thanks

Redditⓘ good to know

However, it sounds better if the original sound is chosen in the phone settings and then the EQ in the technics app is adjusted. And add LDAC as previously mentioned. In my case it provided a better sound.

Redditⓘ good to know

But from your list if you do decide sound quality to be the most important factor; the AZ100s or the Denon Pearl Pros, whichever fits your budget better.

Redditⓘ good to know

I had an issue with az100, it's connected but has no sound, volume is up, ANC is working but no sound. Previously it worked just perfect with my pixel 6

Redditⓘ good to know

Is it only after the update? Have you tried factory resetting the earbuds? https://help.na.panasonic.com/answers/how-to-reset-an-audio-product-technics/

Redditⓘ good to know

The Technics have oval nozzles. If you feel uncomfortable with the standard ear pads, try the OnePlus Buds Pro2. For me, they are more comfortable and have better noise reduction. Maybe I just have crooked ears)

Redditⓘ good to know

Bass: +5 dB • 250 Hz: −1 dB • 500 Hz: −1 dB • 1K Hz: +5 dB • 2.5K Hz: +5 dB • 4K Hz: +2 dB • 8K Hz: +4 dB • 12K Hz: +6 dB These EQ works best for me

Redditⓘ good to know

Hi guys, great feedback here. Could i please ask how these perform in the gym/during cardio for example? Do they remain in the ear pretty comfortably or are they likely to come unstuck whilst you’re active? Thanks.

Redditⓘ good to know

I'm a new owner of the AZ100. Does the F/W get automatically pushed from the app or do I have to actively download it and install via computer?

Redditⓘ good to know

What app is that? Every app I have used does it, including Spotify and YouTube music, which automatically change their skip track buttons to skip seconds when using with podcasts and it works with Bluetooth earbuds as well.

Redditⓘ good to know

What earbuds were you using? Also, your post is valid. They have changed the default tuning through software updates since they came out.

Redditⓘ good to know

How are the volume levels on the AZ100 compared to the AZ80? I had the AZ80 and loved them, but the volume level for me was way to low.

Redditⓘ good to know

Of course I did, and both are thrilled, though not entirely satisfied with things like the fit. But everyone was happy with the sound.
