Vitamix 5200

Based on 326 comments across 2 communities
TL;DR
Owners are overwhelmingly happy with the 5200, calling it a workhorse that blends everything silky-smooth and lasts 15 to 20-plus years of near-daily use. The most common gripes are the high price, that it's loud, and the bare-bones manual dial with no presets. A handful of owners also hit a seized blade-bearing or container over the years (usually fixed under warranty), and a few find the tall jar bulky and hard to fit under cabinets or the faucet.

86% of 326 verified owners recommend the Vitamix 5200.

In fact, without having investigated this too deeply, I think the run of the mill vitamix 5200 uses some sort of too simple control system, because they tell you not to run it at low speeds or it will overheat (and it totally will overheat). Which reminds me, anything that involves slower speeds or pulsing chunky stuff, the blendtec is hands down the winner

Vitamix was a game changer for me. My $330 refurbished Vitamix 5200 still works flawlessly today.

I personally strongly prefer the 7500/Pro 300 over the 5200.

Older model Vitamix 5200, bought used so I assume out of warranty. It makes a high pitched grinding sound when I run it, and it doesn’t seem to run as fast/efficiently as it used to.

Vitamix 5200. Took 1 minute to blend fully, but I had to use the tamper the entire time to keep it moving.

I use it every. single. day.

they are definitely not the same blenders from my own testing. However, I would still recommend the new 5200's over the Ascent series because it performs better.

I now have a Vitamix 5200. Surprisingly, I prefer the Blendtec by a country mile. The Vitamix probably has more brute power, but the features and accessories on the Blendtec were leaps-and-bounds more sophisticated, and I never encountered anything it wouldn't pulverize quite readily.

It’s easily the best blender I’ve ever used, it liquifies things so well a strainer isn’t needed most of the time. Huge Vitamix fan

Personally, I started with the 5200, and if your mom is a minimalist sort, I think she would be very happy with it. I used it for years, primarily to make green smoothie.

I have the same experience with my Vitamix 5200. Air pockets galore. Only time it doesn’t is when I add too much liquid then it’s hella liquidy. Spent $300+ to avoid this headache and yet there it is. Such a let down

Then I tried the same recipe at a friend's place on his Vitamix. I sold my ninja the next day and picked up [Certified Refurb](http://slickdeals.net/f/7683573-certified-refurbished-vitamix-blender-5200-or-cia-professional-series-246-75-after-25-off-free-shipping-and-5-yr-warranty?v=1) for under $300.

I have a Vitamix 5200, but it’s so cumbersome, so I picked up the nutribullet 900 for Christmas. It’s been awesome and easy to use and clean.

The 'Classic' container - standard on Reconditioned Standard Programs - is all purpose: big blends, small blends, it doesn't care. Just struggles to fit under cabinets.

Vitamix is definitely toeing the enshittification line. The ascent series was worse than the 5200, and now X series is worse than ascents.

People recommend the Vitamix 5200, which is fine but I don’t like the mixing jar. The propel 750 has a wider one that is easier to clean.

It works just fine! It does make more fibrous juice and it uses less produce. Often, I'll just strain it through a nut milk bag

Didn't notice this with my original Vitamix 5200 or my Blendtec.

Same issue here, Vitamix 5200 (10 years old). I have tried multiple pots and still have issue. I have heard it is a board problem though.
