DJI Air 3S

Scored on 130 verified owner verdicts, from 1,767 comments read across 4 communities
TL;DR
Owners are largely thrilled with the Air 3S, calling it a rock-solid daily driver with great image and video, versatile dual cameras, and confident handling in wind backed by LiDAR and obstacle avoidance. The honest catch is that its image quality isn't a clear step up from the Air 3 (a few upgraders even find the main camera worse), the body is noticeably larger and harder to pack, and a handful hit quality-control defects like gimbal-stuck and battery faults. If you already fly an Air 3, most owners say it isn't an essential upgrade.

63% of 130 verified owners recommend the DJI Air 3S, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

The Air3s just works. The mini4pro is so quiet it's almost a stealth drone but the Air3s is my goto drone for windy days.

I've got both and find the M4P alot easier for travelling, especially when it's in my backpack Vs the Air3S

Just bought an Air 3s from Adorama 2 weeks ago now Flew for maybe 3-hours total flight time or let’s just say 2 battery charge cycles before I noticed all 3 batteries would stop charging for a second and then start again and then stop, repeat.

As a drone I prefer the Air3s because of the battery life which is a huge advantage over the Air2s. The second 70mm lens is also a great addition that opens new horizons to creativity

I'm really disappointed in the 24mm lens. There's a complete lack of quality control, which sadly was to be expected from such a cheap tiny fixed aperture lens.

The Air3S can compete and even beat the mavic 3 pro in some scenarios. Its a amazing drone.

Dji Air 3S is capable for what you are asking, if it stays unfolded on balcony and remote is with phone attached , but powered off. Just tried and in 30 seconds it was in the air.

Though I do wish the Air3S was able to rotate its sensor, similar to the Mini. I love being able to shoot vertical if I know the content is being shot for social.

Few days ago I bought this new amazing drone and went straight to park to test it, the images and videos looks so fake and sharpened by the program inside

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Been waiting a new firmware with new features for the Air 3s since release, had mine almost 6 months and nothing at all

even as it got quite dark it followed my kid on his electric skateboard thing quite easily. It even “followed” him from the front going totally backwards amongst trees. Was impressive. Air3s

I would say dynamic range is better with the air3s but the camera has noticeable issues like moire, glowing around lights and a good amount of purple fringing.

I have to agree it's definitely better than the mini 4 and better than the air 3 But the Mavic photo quality is still better than both in my opinion

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Upgraded from the Air 3 to the Air 3S and honestly, I find the main camera to be actually worse.

I’d suggest an Air 3S, and simply get 2 years of DJI Care Refresh. Awesome drone, and if you do crash, you’ll get a new one. But it’s so packed with safety features

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Yeah same for Air3s. It couldn't track surfers, specially when their movement is eratic.

Reddit▲ recommend

The Air 3S is just a phenomenal drone. Very few people need more than it offers and it currently is by far the best value proposition in DJI's current lineup.

I’ve noticed a slight increase in visibility with the air 3s. It’s definitely a better drive but larger and requires more effort and paraphernalia.

was it worth the price difference? Well, I still need to do more testing during the day, but as of right now, I would say no..

Reddit▲ recommend

The Air3s is great though! It's really one of those rare pieces of tech that just does everything you want it to do, and does it seemingly perfect every time.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

LOL, well it seems not too effective right now, maybe firmware updates will improve it.

I lost a blade on my Air 3S and surprisingly able to limp 300 feet back home. It was wobbly but it was doable. I replaced the blade and was as good as new!

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

They constantly pull BS like this with the OA5 and Air 3S.

I could definitely use the Neo in place of my Air 3S for a panning shot and my client would very likely not notice.

Redditⓘ good to know

For hiking/walking its not so much the weight, the Air3S is a much bigger form factor so takes up more baggage space. I fly with both several times a month.

Redditⓘ good to know

I wouldn't worry about these issues specifically, as you can experience them on nearly every drone you buy.

Redditⓘ good to know

I have the Air3S...and still use the Air2s half the Time

Redditⓘ good to know

I’ve had one incident with my Air 3s that was scary! A bird swooped up and hit my drone, knocking it off balance for a few seconds, but fortunately for me the strike didn’t cause any fatal damage!

Redditⓘ good to know

these camera drones (vs FPV drones) are usually used higher altitude and you just won't see issues even at lower bitrates with this new chip
