TL;DR
Owners consistently praise the 12th-gen Paperwhite as fast, with a sharp high-contrast screen and minimal ghosting that's easy on the eyes for hours, plus long battery life and a warm light that shines for night reading. The few gripes are minor: accidental page turns from the tap feature, a wish for a smaller body, and a rare freeze. For most owners it's a device they happily read on every day.

70% of 27 verified owners recommend the Kindle Paperwhite (12th Gen), based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

Amazon/Kindle no longer allows you to download your own books. That was the last draw for me.

I had a Paperwhite, but I went back to the Basic. The Basic is smaller, lighter, and doesn't have a glass layer over the screen. The only thing I miss on the Basic is the warm light.

They changed the size just enough to force everyone to buy new cases.

I never considered page turns too slow. I also thought it was plenty bright enough.

Waiiit you get ads on your E Reader and you are locked into the amazon ecosystem? What in the world?

I have the Kobo Clara 2e and a Kindle Paperwhite 3. Battery life seems comparable between the two.

I'm still happy with my kindle 2 from 2009, 17 years ago lol

I wish this had buttons!

My biggest complaint with Amazon is the fact you only lease ebooks from them and actually have no rights to them at all

That’s a small price to pay for all the improvements you mentioned

The kindle was driving me crazy with constant ads! To have constant ads as a screensaver when you just want to enjoy a nice book is INFURIATING.

I love my Kindle

Who cares how fast !!.. it's not a race , as long as it turns pages its perfectly fine, certainly no reason to upgrade.

Summary: it’s faster than previous generation, the rest: nothing new

I like that you can see the color on the front edges of the device

I’m looking to buy this soon because of that.

Amazon really don’t listen to their customers, nobody wanted this. We want an oasis

I'm still using the one that came out in 2009

One would have to be a real clown to still opt for this Kindle.
