In owners' own words

do not start the journey with a Gaggia Classic Pro. This machine may feel like it's psychotic, one day giving you an awesome shot, another day telling you to go fly a kite with its steam brewing shot making you wonder wtf is wrong

My Gaggia Classic Pro Evo refurb came with like 2 tablespoons of scale in the shower head, it sprayed like a rusty sprinkler head when I first tried it out). It took me a good hour or two of cleaning/flushing to get it all out.

I have come to really despise my Gaggia Classic Pro because it truly sucks at steaming. All I want is a flat white with nicely textured milk and its incredibly hard to get that consistently. In retrospect, I wish I had gotten one of the Breville machines in the same price range.

I actually ended up returning my Gaggia Classic Pro Evo because of the metal flake stuff going on last year and got a Rancilio Silvia and installed a PID kit on it.

Recently upgrade from a Gaggia Classic Pro and I’ve found the same. I never used to get consistent shots, was always struggling with temperature surfing and inconsistent milk steaming because of the low power.

To my gaggia classic pro. And after 1 month I’m thinking of selling it for the top of the line flare

I replaced my Gaggia Classic Pro (2019) with a Robot paired with a Dualit Cino. No regrets whatsoever.

I would avoid the Gaggia Classic Pro. We have one, and it has a tiny single boiler that you really have to do all sorts of odd finagling to get it to steam powerfully enough to get a good microfoam. If you ever want to make drinks for guests or if you have more than one person in the home, you can’t very successfully make them back to back.

I’ve owned delonghi breville and Gaggia classic pro. The Robot is so simple and the espresso is amazing.

I recently inherited a gaggia classic from a friend and went down the espresso rabbit hole. Everything is going great aside from the fact that I *hate, double hate, loathe entirely* the steam wand.

The boiler coating will start to flake after a few months! Make sure you get a chrome-plated group head and uncoated replacement. Or return it! Gaggia has screwed us all.

Why did Gaggia choose not to make the boiler in the similar way like everyone else? E.g. Rancilio. a cylinder shape boiler chamber (see the snapshot) rather than a square shaft?

Setup quirks & things to watch for

Not complaints — practical notes from owners that didn't affect the score.

I bought a Gaggia Classic Pro first and then later on a Robot. I don't think I'll get rid of the GCP but I use the Robot for all my straight espresso and only use the GCP for milk drinks now.

I've had the Gaggia Classic Pro for more than 2 years and have initially used it with the pre-ground coffee. But it has become a pain the ass, since I've only found 1 roastery that was able to "guess" the proper grind size for my GCP.

Nothing special with the Gaggia. Pull shot, froth, walk to dining room to serve, grind, pour milk, repeat. It just takes a couple of minutes for it to be ready to go.

I have had a Gaggia for about a month now and although it was difficult at first, over time it has become much easier once I figured out a good order of operations.

I upgraded to the Steel DUO Plus from a modded Gaggia Classic and I would do it again anytime! Espresso is stellar, steam power is a huge improvement and the steam lever is a game-changer compared to the knob.

3D print or buy a 3D printed handle to slip over the steam knob so it's easier to turn. Aside from a Gaggimate that was the best upgrade for my GCP

I’ve tried dialing in a few light roasts but have lots of trouble figuring out what i’m doing wrong. I’ve tried grinding very fine and still have some bad tasting shots. I could dial in medium-dark roasts very easily though.

If you let the wand get to full temp and the light goes on, it seems to run out of steam pretty quick. I wait 35 seconds (about 10 seconds before the light goes on) then run the water out and steam the milk and it goes perfectly.
