TL;DR
Most owners land on satisfied-to-enthusiastic, repeatedly praising the Nova 5's light, comfortable fit, strong battery life, and price-to-performance value, with several calling it more comfortable than pricier headsets. A meaningful minority pushes back hard on sound quality, though, describing garbled or distorted audio out of the box and needing to hand-tune the EQ (or use the cinematic preset) just to escape a flat, bass-light default. A smaller but consistent group also reports wireless dropouts or dongle finickiness, tight clamp pressure that hurts after long sessions, and a further audio hit when switching to Bluetooth mode. Overall it reads as a comfortable, good-value headset that rewards EQ tinkering, with real quality-control or fit variance for a subset of buyers.

63% of 71 verified owners recommend the Arctis Nova 5, based on real owner verdicts aggregated from Reddit, enthusiast forums, and YouTube.

  • Users who value long battery life and portability over audiophile sound quality
  • PC/console gamers okay with the Sonar app for chat-mix and EQ control
Look elsewhere if
  • Music listeners seeking accurate, detailed audio - owners call the stock and even tweaked sound muddy or 'cybersound'
  • Anyone prone to reliability issues - recurring reports of random disconnects, garbled/distorted audio, and units failing
  • Larger-headed users - some report tight clamp force and head/ear pain after extended wear

Yup, same issue Made a post about it yesterday and there’s been plenty of complaints on this sub. Wish SteelSeries would address it as there’s clearly an issue with the Nova 5.

Reddit▲ recommend

I doubt there is anything better for the price. I mean, they don’t sound like my $300 Audeze Maxwell’s but wouldn’t expect that for the cost difference. I like them enough

there is so much else about the headset that I like - it’s real comfy, the battery life is great, and the EQ presets are neat. Sucks to have all that eclipsed by the awful audio quality

Reddit— neutral

It’s okay for a gaming headset. Eq helps a little but the EQs are usually vague and not headset specific. For music, detailed listening it’s quite muddy sounding when compared to better headsets.

The Arctis nova 5s are fantastic for gaming bro , they also very loud . Bass is slightly on the lower side but definitely not a deal breaker

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Steelseries de iyi hoş ama hem dışarı ses çok fazla veriyor hem aşırı detaylo eq ayarlarına rağmen ses kalitesi memnun etmiyor ve tizlik çok fazla.

I regret spending the money on mine, wish I had have just bought the Microsoft Xbox branded ones again instead. Constant sound issues

Reddit▲ recommend

I bought it and I'm kinda satisfied. It needs to have some more bass, but overall it's a good headset that has a good battery life.

Reddit— neutral

Had it for less than a year and the battery started doing weird shit. Basically it works fine but it always thinks the battery is low, when it isn’t lol…

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

honestly cannot wear it for long gaming sessions because it does start to hurt my head. I've gone back to using my A40s primarily.

Reddit▲ recommend

I have recently got the nova 5’s so far good sound quality mic feedback and all. I recommend that line or Turtle beach

Reddit— neutral

I would criticize them for forcing you into using the sonar App, despite this was not necessary with arctis, but for me it's super stabel.

Reddit— neutral

A little finicky. Sometimes I have to unplug and replug the dongle but overall bang for buck I’m happy with them. Would buy again

Reddit▲ recommend

I am super impressed with them!! The sound is great and they're super comfortable. I'd definitely recommend :)

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

they still do the job but I wouldn’t buy them again, for the price there is better for cheaper IMO

Reddit— neutral

Got them also. Like a week ago. They are rlly good. Especilly the comfort and the EQ. My only problem is the sound balance.

Reddit▲ recommend

I've been using the Nova 5 for 1,5 years. I like them - light weight and super comfy with the StealthZ pads.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Arctis Nova 5 decent, but I can't recommend due to the 2 pairs I tested had the same issue

Reddit— neutral

The mic quality in 2.4 mode is OK. In bluetooth mode its bad. The sound quality is good. For gaming its a solid choice.

Reddit▲ recommend

The only thing that sticks out to me is the lack of bass. I still suggest buying them when they're on sale.

Reddit▼ don’t recommend

Dont get it, its very buggy and I spend more time troubleshooting mine that using it.

Reddit— neutral

with the base eq settings the sound is trash. Go by the cinematic preset or tweak on your own preferences.

Reddit▲ recommend

I've had the Arctis Nova 5P for PlayStation 5, for a couple of months, and it's been working great so far.

Redditⓘ good to know

Alright thanks, would you say there are any downsides to it such as the mic/sound quality in games? I also heard there were some issues with it disconnecting randomly which I saw was also in the hs80

Redditⓘ good to know

Hey man, I also got mine from Evetech. Have you had any issues? On mine the mic is very soft on PS5 and Windows and the audio cuts out from time to time.

Redditⓘ good to know

I wait my hs80 it come in 2 days, i was like you struggling to choose between hs80 and artic 5. Wait i little bit and i tell you if the hs80 worth it or nah My friend who has a big gamer, recommand me the hs80

Redditⓘ good to know

Maybe the headset you got is borked? Might be worth considering going the RMA route for a replacement. Does it sound the same over Bluetooth?

Redditⓘ good to know

Hello tgere, can you please tell me if the mic does a good job with filtering out background noise and picking out only the voice

Redditⓘ good to know

Dont connect via bluetooth with voice chat. It is bluetooth problem and audio is downgraded to Hadsfree protocol.

Redditⓘ good to know

hey OP, did u end up getting it? if so how’s your experience? this is one of the options that im considering.

Redditⓘ good to know

I'm in the same boat right now. Did you end up with the nova 5 or something else and how have they felt?

Redditⓘ good to know

hows sound quality of wired 7 to 5 i have the 5 and might return for 7 just becaues of wired capability

Redditⓘ good to know

Nova 5 ten. Niye memnun kalmadın reis ben de bakıyorum da onu düşünmüştüm.

Redditⓘ good to know

Just to add that the difference in mic quality greater than the difference in sound quality. The 7 has a more premium feel and dual audio at the same time while with the 5 you have to switch. The 5 is a bit lighter and has the benefit of the arctis app for mobile to tweak some settings.

Redditⓘ good to know

Do you have Sonar turned on? You should turn it off in settings.

Redditⓘ good to know

I noticed the same with mine when the Bluetooth is turned on

How are you liking your 5x? Just got mine yesterday

Redditⓘ good to know

I've returned them now and I'm looking at the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5. What do you think about it? Is it worth buying, or do you have other recommendations? I’ve read online about the volume dropping in the left ear over time or connection issues when the PC starts up—have you experienced anything like that?
