ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium

Based on 94 comments across 3 communities
TL;DR
Owners praise the Ecobee Premium for its premium feel, large display, deep HVAC customization, and solid HomeKit and Home Assistant integration, and many report lower energy bills. The most common gripes are over-aggressive automation that people end up turning off, onboard temperature readings that run off by several degrees, and quirky heat-pump or dual-fuel staging. Expect a learning curve, and don't lean on the air-quality sensor for accurate CO2.

57% of 94 verified owners recommend the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium.

Yet this $250 thermostat is just making random guesses at CO2 based on VOC which don't always correlate well.

My ecobee smart thermostat premium acts as a Siri speaker. I can talk to it as if it’s a HomePod basically.

it’s been fantastic. The cross-floor temperature tracking has been incredibly useful for heating the home at night to keep a comfortable temperature in the bedroom upstairs.

the ecobee will report anywhere from 1-6 degrees or more of temperature swings after turning on the ceiling fan.

Last night I swapped a Nest for Ecobee Premium. I did not download the app until after the physical installation, which was an error.

As nice as my Ecobee premium was, it was overwhelming with all of the bells and whistles and addons and smarts and menus and … bleh.

finally to EcoBee Premium. Only the last one in that list actually provided a solid suite of user-configurable options & a reliable means of working with Home Assistant.

Air quality sensor on my ecobees aren't reliable as one would expect.

I just installed an Ecobee Premium. I have a heat pump with gas furnace backup. My heat pump has always run into the low 30’s. Now it won’t come on until the outside temp is in the sixties. I’ve played with every setting and no go.

I have the Smart Thermostat Premium but am not currently taking advantage of the multistage option. Good to have the air quality measurement it provides in homekit, and the touchscreen is nicer than the base model ecobee.

when I upgraded to the premium version of the ecobee it was not programed and installed properly which I was losing my savings

I wish the ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium would display the time on the home screen.

Ecobee premium thermostat is by far, my favorite HomeKit accessory that I own.

Ecobee has been the worst smart thermostat I have owned. None of the features of the Ecobee Premium have worked well for me. Temperature and humidity are 12-16 degrees/percent off. Siri integration is shit. HomeKit integration is shit. The app is shit.

i just switched to Ecobee Premium smart/Wi-Fi stat with extra room sensors

I have a few ecobee premiums with all the "smarts" turned off because the features make them irratic.

I found the Ecobee Premium really shines with single and two stage setups like my previous home had and the app is way better. They are fantastic units and very easy to use.

The only good smart thermostat I like as a techie and who has owned a nest is the ecobee premium.

I use the ecobee premium via homekit. It's nice and has a beautiful UI.

while the Ecobee is consistently off by 5 degrees. Everything has been sealed, so there’s no drafts.

Just installed Ecobee premium (w/ 2 Smart Sensors) and I am having issues with inaccurate readings on the temp sensor of the main unit. Much more erratic and larger variations than the Smart Sensors even when they are placed in close proximity to the main unit.

I've since tweaked some of those settings and everything seems fine now. I can't say if I configured everything properly, but I'm at least warm now.

I installed Ecobee Premium recently and it does start heating before it drops to the set point. It need some time to learn, but after ~two weeks it started to work the way I described.
